He explained everything VERY thouroughly and has a wonderful bedside manner. I could not have asked for a better surgeon.

August 2001. I was terified when I went for my intial visit to Dr Ben-Meir but I was treated so well and I thought Dr Ben-Meir was thorough and educational. The office staff was kind, polite and helpful.

August 2001- March 2002. I struggled with the staff at Dr Ben -Meir's office. My paper work got lost twice. I would not get called back. Time was flying by and no progress was made. Finally in March Dr Ben-Meir got a new secretary and things came together. My paper work was submitted and I got approved within a week.

Surgery date 4/24/02.

I really only have good things to say about the care Dr Ben-Meir gave me in the hospital. He was honest about the problems and treated me appropriatly. His bed side manners were good. I was pleased with his care and his talent at making my laporoscopic surgery successful under difficult circumstanses.

I have not seen my surgeon yet my first appointment is 1/4/2001. Have talked to Mary is Nurse she is very helpful.

1/5/2002 Meet Dr. Ben-Mier yesterday he he very nice to talk tovery understanding. He answered all my questions and even gave me his email if I had any more questions for him. MARCH 2 2002 I SAW DR. AVIV BEN MIER FRIDAY HE IS ONE OF THE MOST DOWN TO EARTH DR I HAVE EVER MEET. HE WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTION YOU HAVE REGARDLESS WHAT IT IS HE EVEN CALLED ME AT HOME ONE NIGHT TO SEE IF I WAS OK ABOUT ONE OF THE TEST I NEEDED TO TAKE BECAUSE MY INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER IT. TO ME THAT WAS THE NICEST THING HE COULD HAVE DONE.

I was a little late for my appt. because i live 200 miles away and my car zonked out about a mile from the hospital. He saw me anyway and even kept people in the office till about 5:20 so he could answer all of my questions. He tells you upfront about the complications. The main ones being throwing blood clots from your legs and leakege from the site where the bowel is reattached. He told me they even quit doing the procedure for a while because of bloodclot deaths until they could figure out a better way to hel reduce the risk. That made me feel a lot better. Tehy now tilt you back and also put inflateable sleeves on your legs and of course you have to get up and walk as soon as possible. I was very impressed with dr. Ben-Meir. He seems very laid back but confident. He approved me for surgery and i have to have a few more tests but he said insurance should be no problem. I have medicare and medicaid QMB. So hopefully I am looking at a date for surgery within the next 2 months. Also I was able to get in to see him pretty quickly and things are so far progressing at a fast rate. His nurse is really great. We mentioned to someone that our car had broken down and without hesitating she got us into the RonaldMcDonald house. This is just my opinion and it may change in the future as I have only had 1 meeting with the doctor. So time will tell before I can actually say what kind of surgeon he actually is.
