my first impression of Dr Tompkins, was he was cute... haha.. he really knew what he was doing he didnt leave anything to mystery. with my first visit with him i knew i wanted him to do my surgery. he did not sugar coat nothing.i love his staff there they are the bomb. when you deciced to have the surgery the best place to start is with this staff, i was very impressed with the aftercare i received the hospital goes above and beyound there duities to help you.i rate the Dr and the hospital a 11. that includes the surgical competence and bedside manner........rnif i had to do it over again i would go back there to kings daughter hospital they treated me wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Wheeler and his staff are absolutely wonderful. He is very professional, at the same time very personable. He is so down to earth and easy to talk to. I just love him, his assistant, AND all the girls in the office. They make you feel so at ease. He stresses the importance of the aftercare program and I like the fact that KDMC has such a structured aftercare program. I just am extremely satisfied and confident in my choice of surgeon.

Dr. Wheeler has seen my insides in a way that no one else has... through a scope down my throat and (hopefully a different) scope in my rear. Nice enough guy... I'll see how he stitches me up, then we'll talk.

Dr. Tompkins is very thorough. He fully discusses the weight loss procedures, risks and benefits. Although he's done many weight loss surgeries (LB and RNY) Dr. Tompkins is concerned about each individual case. He makes you feel like your case is the most important case he has. He is easy to talk to and is a good listener. He answers questions fully. He works with a well qualified staff trained in bariatic surgery, nutrician, pre and post op care. He and his staff offer support group programs monthly. The staff provide mandatory attendence at their pre operative classes. These teaches include information about nutrician, diet, exercise, body image and changes etc. I found them very informative. The staff is very supportive and encourage patients to ask questions and to be informed about SWL. Dr. Tompkins staff are good about taking and returning calls. On a 1-10 score with 10 being the highest, I will give them a 10.

My first impression was he was friendly but very matter of fact. As I got to know him I found him to be very friendly and does have a good bed side manner, but he does not sugar coat anything. He tells it like it is, but he cares a great deal about his patients. rnrnI like the way he told me what I would have to do to be successful. rnrnThe office staff is great, very busy, but always got back with me in a timely fashion. rnrnWhat I liked least about him was having to wait on him for an appointment because he was running late because of surgery. Nothing he could do about it but still a pain to sit and wait. It only happened once. rnrnExcellent surgeon, great track record. rnrnAftercare is emphasized and once you are his patient you always have access to the Nutritionist or Psychologist and there is a support group that meets once a month.

He's not much of a talker, but he is the utmost professional. I think he's one of the best in the area of bariatric surgery. The office staff are a cross between cheerleaders and angels. The level of education and aftercare you get is the top! Awesome doc, awesome staff.

My first impression of Dr. Wheeler is that he is very caring about his patients and truly wants them to succeed if not exceed all of their goals!!! He wants ro know that you are serious about getting healthy and staying that way!! My impression never has changed except for the respect I now have has grown even more!!! The office staff is and has been absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable. The thing I would have to say that I like the least is that he may seem a little rushed in and out, but he will thoroughly answer every question you may have!!EMPHAZISES AFTERCARE TREMENDOUSLY!!! Very structured aftercare program!! All of the office including the doctor addressed the risks w/ every visit and after surgery they still tell of the risks if instructions not followed!! I RATE DR. WHEELER AND ALL THE STAFF A 20 OUT OF 10!!!LOLrnDr. Wheeler is great in both areas!!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!

This surgery has changed my life and in my experience those changes have been, in every respect, positive. I have found Dr. Tompkins to be attentive, knowledgeable, quite competent, and I would gladly choose him as my surgeon again. Furthermore, his support staff, the SLW team at KDMC, is outstanding. We have available to us as SLW pts. a counselor, a nurse, and dietician who are all willing to make appointments with us or take our calls and emails to help us with questions and concerns FOR LIFE. In my opinion, this level of ongoing support is invaluable as a person makes a life change of this scale, and I have found these team members to be supportive, responsive, knowledgeable, understanding, as well as enthusiastic about seeing me and other patients through this experience.

the office is located on the bottom floor and you get vallet parking, not a long wait time to be seen, chairs and office comfortable for all size people. I thought ok, but then : I loved him from the minute he walked into the room. he was so understanding and didn't laugh or make jokes or have an annoyed look on his face like i'd seen from some doctors. he was friendly but professional. speaking of professional, HIS STAFF !!!! the office personnel was always smileing and being friendly, his nurses are very encouraging. i feel so safe and secure with him and his staff. rnSurgical competence is the most important, but bedside manners make a difference too. but with dr. tompkins and his staff you don't need to worry, you get the full package.

I love Dr. Wheeler. He is very personable in his office. A very caring physician. I would recommend Dr. Wheeler highly for anyone who is considering this procedure.rnrnHis staff is wonderful. rnrn
