Johnson Memorial Hospital Bariatric Care Center Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr Dana Lindsay was that she seemed so in love with life and with what she's doing! She was open, friendly, willing to discuss "the good, the bad & the ugly" so to speak about having surgery! She was very nice to my husband as well and answered as many questions for him as she did for me!
Her office staff have all seemed very friendly and eager to help as well! I've felt very positive in my workings with her staff, in getting my surgery information together and in getting my approval!
I did have a LONG wait in her office! But I guess that might be the norm!
I think future patients should know that she is passionate about her practice, her patients and furthering good health for them!
She was very open in discussing how things would go after surgery, and from what I've heard, she is even present for the leak test after surgery. I wouldn't think this would be the norm, but she's very caring that way!
She addressed the risks of surgery in a very clear, concise manner, never underplaying or overplaying them, simply stating the possible outcomes! I felt very at ease, even hearing this type of info from her!
Although I'd recommend her as a surgeon, my one true complaint was that I wished I'd known back before my original surgery date of 10/23 (cancelled due to a high Hemoglobin A1C) that I need to be careful of this! I will continue to have her as my bariatric surgeon, but I'm going to definitely express my opinion to her that her diabetic patients need this information ahead of time!
The longer I'm with Dr Lindsay as a patient, the more satisfied I am that I made the right choice. Her guidelines for aftercare are not so rigid that no one could follow them, yet they are structured. She seems to fully understand that our bodies are taking time to get used to the new way of eating and she does not require long periods of liquid diets and doesn't "sweat the small stuff" of post-op eating.
Dr Lindsay is quite proficient at both her surgical skill and bedside manner. She is all business, yet always has time for a funny anecdote about post-op life, going so far as to "cheer" for me when I recently told her about getting back into a smaller size blue jeans.
I couldn't have chosen a better surgeon to help me make my way in this journey!!
My first impression of Dr Lindsay is that she is personable. She does address the risks of surgery. She also has great bedside manner and her own set up of rules for aftercare. <even before surgery care> As for her surgical competence she was great with me. I think future patients should know she is more hyper than laid back. She is not a risk taker. She told me if she thought I had a leak at all after surgery. She would not hesitate to take me back into surgery to check. Overall, I think she is great. If I had to pick a surgeon again. I would pick her. She also has Dr Boyer assist her with every surgery she does. So, if she is on vacation you always have him to talk to and he already knows about your case.
I've had my initial consultation with Dr. Lindsay and my first impression could not have been better. Professional, but real. I felt I could really talk to her. I never felt rushed and she answered all of my questions without making me feel that any question was silly or uninportant.H office staff have been wonderful. I am traveling almost 5 hours from home to see Dr. Lindsay and her office has made the distance workable. I have to say that there hasn't been anything that I haven't liked about Dr. Lindsay she caring and knowledgable. She only does 4 surgeries a week because she wants to follow up each patient no one sees her patients but her.She was very thourough and explained her aftercare program completely.I feel that alot of doors were shut during my journey for WLS because I was supposed to end up here with a caring skilled and competent surgeon.
Dana Lindsay is a Professional thru and thru. She is friendly, listens to your questions and seems to explain very well. I have always felt confident in her. And she has always been very comfortable to be around. Her staff shows concern, respect and kindness when talking to them. I have never felt embarrased around them even though they all seem to have a healthy appearance that sometimes could make you feel uneasy since I probably weighed at least 200 pounds more that any of them. They are very kind and do not make you feel uncomfortalbe asking questions. I really can't say anything bad about Dr Lindsay. She can be short and to the point at times. I guess that comes with having so many Iron's in the pot. But, she never pooh, pooh's your needs. And she never ignores any potential problems. She is very easy going. If you have any questions, you should ask her. She is willing to give you any informatin you may have on your mind. She is very insistant that you read her information and understand it. There really is no structured after care program that I am aware of. But then I am not one to spend much time with that anyway. I do better just going by what I see works with others and applying things that work best for me. She does give you detailed info on what you should eat. There is a support group that she trys to introduce. As a matter for fact she asks you to go to at least one meeting. She is very good about explaining the risks of surgery. She does not candy coat anything. Overall I rate her as an excellent Dr. I would go to her again for any need that should could fullfill. I feel that her competence is that most important aspect that I felt comfort in. She is a class A Doctor.
Dr. Dana Lindsay is awesome, she made me feel very comfortable from the minute she walked in the door. She is so upbeat, and energetic. She informed me of any and all possible complications and what will be expected of me from the day of surgery forward. She took all the time necessary to answer all my quetions and any questions my partner may have had. Her parting words to me that day were "now your stuck with me for the rest of your life" WOW what a great coach.
I have all the confidence possible in her to do my surgery, I must say I am not scared but anxious to get on the loosing side of this journey so I can start WINNING.
Dr. Lindsey on the initial visit took the time to really answer all the questions I had. She was very descriptive of the surgery and honest and forthcoming. Her office staff is friendly and helpful. At the hospital she seemed to be in a hurry at times. I would suggest future patients have all questions prepared for Dr. Lindsey and actually ANY of their doctors because at times they do get busy. Dr. Lindsey always answers any questions and asked if you have any more concerns, just have your questions prepared. Also if you think of any questions later her nurse is always available via phone to answer them. I would implore any one wanting the surgery in the Indiana area to seek out Dr. Lindsey. She is a special doctor and she really is kind and professional. She really seems to care and follows all her patients progress carefully.
My first impression of her was overwhelming. She is so full of energy and so positive. My impression of her overtime has only grown to love her as a person not just a doctor. Her office staff is wonderful. Any questions or concerns are answered promptly. There is absolutely nothing that I didn't like about her. Future patients should know that she treats you as a person and not a number. She puts her personnal feelings in each and every patient she cares for. As far as aftercare, I was called to see how I was doing and asked about any questions or concerns I may have. She recommends that we as a patient attend support group meetings to meet people and continue to follow diet guidlines. Before the surgery at one of the office visits she gives everyone about a three page list of all the risks that are involved with the surgery and then gives you a test to see if you educated yourself with this list. She also will answer any question that you have in a truthful manner. She is very straight forward. If I had to rate her on a scale from 1 to 10 , I would rate her a 10+ because not only is she a great surgeon, she is a great person outside of that. After I had the surgery I got hospitalized about a week later and she was not on call that weekend but she made sure that she came to the hospital to see me and check on my condition. She is the best doctor I have ever been involved with regardless of the practice. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are very important and Dr. Lindsay both of them plus more.
I had my consult with Dr.Lindsay this past Tuesday March 25,2003. I thought she was great, she explained everything in such a simple way. She seemed very concerned about her patients. She has such great confidence and that means a lot to me. She also gave a test to make sure I understood everything. She took her time with me I didn't feel rushed or anything. Her office staff was also very nice. I can't wait to continue in this journey with Dr. Lindsay on board now!!!!
dana lindsay is the most upbeat(while yet down to earth) dr. i know.i work with doctors all day long. she is a brilliant surgeon and a very good person. she has given me a very amazing tool and a second change for a normal life. her office staff is wonderful, they do all the insurance work for you. i have never had to wait in her office over 10 minutes, yet she will take all the time you need when she sees you. she can never be properly thanked...how do you adequately thank someone for giving you your life back?
