Institute for Laparoscopic Surgery Bariatric Center

He has great bedside manner and is really personable. I believe he really cares about me as a person and has been great about follow ups.

Dr. Lauter was my second surgeon; I had my lap band with Dr. Alperovich at Vally Medical Center, and 3 weeks later, VMC closed their bariatric center. Although I had no problems with Dr. Alperovich, I made the decision to find a new surgeon, as it took several months for Dr. Alperovich to get re-established, and I didn't want to wait around. I found Dr. Lauter, and I am very happy that I did. Some local surgeons would not see me because someone else had performed by band surgery, but Dr. Lauter was happy to see me. rnrnWhen I met Dr. Lauter, I immediately liked him. I find him easy to talk to, and he answered all of my questions. I've read other testimonials where patients of his have said he is quiet and does not say a lot, but that has not my experience with him. I also love Kelli, who works in his office. She is awesome.rnrnAbout 2 months after I started seeing Dr. Lauter, my band slipped, which resulted in Dr. Lauter having to do emergency surgery that same day. He was very responsive to me and my situation; I did not have to wait to see him or for him to return my calls.rnrnFor various reasons, including my slipped band, I started doing research on a revision to RNY. Dr. Lauter was supportive, and when I told him I wanted to start the insurance approval process, he was very prompt in getting the paperwork in. He assured me that he would help with the appeal if it came down to that, but it wasn't necessary, as I was approved on the first try. rnrnI had always feared the more invasive RNY surgery. After meeting Dr. Lauter and having him repair my slipped band, I had complete faith in his skill as a surgeon, and I trusted him completely. My revision to RNY was uneventful, and I am feeling great. In addition to being a skilled surgeon, Dr. Lauter has a very pleasant bedside manner, something that is important to me.rnrnI highly recommend Dr. Lauter, I believe he is a highly skilled and compassionate surgeon. He understands the struggles that obese patients suffer, and it is obvious to me that their health and well-being is very important to him. rnrn

Dr. David Lauter and his staff were very helpful in educating my wife and me about the bariatric surgery options. I felt no pressure and I felt informed. I kept coming up with questions and each of them were answered. I chose the vertical sleeve gastrectomy and have been very pleased with the outcome.
Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue has a professional, compassionate staff and a very new bariatric surgery wing. From pre-admission to check-out, their services were outstanding. I had an excellent surgical experience there.
I had no complications, I felt good quickly, and the weight is steadily melting away. I look forward to a long and healthy life.
I would recommend to anyone that they consider the "sleeve" as their procedure and recommend that Dr. Lauter is at least one of the surgeons they consult with prior to making their final choices.

Dr. Lauter was the third surgeon that I consulted with, and the one I ultimately chose. He had the most experience with laparoscopic surgery. A nurse friend recommended him highly. She was impressed by his calm nature, and speed in the OR. (Less anesthesia time =less anesthesia complications). He has a small but very capable office staff. rnKelli, his office manager, is wonderful. There were no problems with insurance or getting phone calls returned.rnDr. Lauter has a quiet confidence about him that made me feel very comfortable. I am 5 months out now, and have had no complications. I would rate Dr.Lauter and his staff a 10!rnrnrnrnrnrnrnrn

My first impression of Dr. Lauter was wow, this guy is pretty neat. I seen his picture before meeting him and he looked like a regular kind of \"nerdy\" doctor in the picture (hehe) but in person he's got some flair, he's a cool guy. So far my impression hasn't changed, I've only met with him twice but he's always patient but right to the point. He sat and answered my huge long list of questions without trying to rush me, though he did look at his watch a couple times. I think it was mostly because he realized his wall clock was wrong because he looked at that clock first and it was a couple hours off then he looked at his watch. His office staff is, well consists of one person (Kelly) that I met but I believe they just hired another lady (Melissa). Kelly is the neatest lady; she's very funny and open. Tiny little woman and at first I was a little apprehensive talking to her about weight but she makes you feel very welcome and warm, I've only met Melissa once breifly but she was pleasant as well. What I like least about him is maybe the fact that he's a little too quiet, he's not forthcoming with information about the risks or diets and aftercare but if you ask him anything he's quick to open up and answer. It might be because I don't even have a surgery date yet, and all that will come in time but not sure. Future patients should know he's very quiet, but extremely nice. He seems to know what he's doing, and I do believe he's trying to find your best interest but just make sure you ask him any and everything you need to (I came with a written list of questions) because like I said he's not really putting it all out there at first. I'll write more after I get the surgery and I can address the other issues but so far I'd rate him a 9 out of 10 which is pretty damn good in my book :)

He is very easy to talk to, very intelligent and explains everything. I was very impressed with his willingness to listen and answer all my questions throughly.

Well, this is my 2nd complaint against this doctor. after not contacting me for over 7 or 8 months, and me calling them and leaving messages, I left a note on here, and boom, I get an email the next day from Doc, apologizing, and saying he actually tried to get in touch with my L&I doc (which confused me, because we talked only about my wife's insurance, Aetna only). Anyway, He emails me and says he wants to contact my L&I doc and then basically acts like he doesn't want to be my doc anymore.rnAll I wanted to do was lose weight. He was referred to me by someone else, and now I wish I had not been.Ok, after he contacts me this time, he makes more empty promises that he is going to do, which he doesn't, of course. rnThe final \"Coup de gras\" to top it off, after not hearing from this guy for so many months, he started sending me invoices for our first meeting long long ago. I had never gotten even one since that day, so now, I can only assume it is because I gave him a negative review on here (that I didn't even think would get back to him). The last invoice says that if I don't pay, ($300 for him doing absolutely NOTHING. He is threatenting to send me to collections. If he does, I am going to contact all 3 consumer protection groups from KIRO, KING, and KOMO and hopefully they will expose who I believe is a charlatan, taking advantage of a handicaped obese person, especially after I wrote a negative note about him on this site, that I never knew would even get back to him. It's my opinion if you decide to go to him, buyer beware. I wish I had investigated better instead of depending on some guys word of mouth. I think I will join in on the forums and make comments there as well, which I didn't do last time.

Dr. Lauter is an EXCELLENT laproscopic surgeon. I have heard experienced weight loss nurses describe him as the most technically skilled surgeon they have ever had the pleasure of working with AND that he performs his surgeries with a gentleness that helps promote a quicker recovery time. On top of that, he is a genuinely nice guy. My RNY procedure went very well. I had surgery on a Tuesday afternoon and was discharged at 12 Noon on Friday. I had a very quick recovery time and minimal discomfort post surgery.rnrnThe woman that runs his front office, Kelli, is AMAZING. She is warm, friendly, highly organized, very knowledgeable about insurance issues, and always follows through on requests.
