Hadar Spivak M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
10/01/04...I have a appt w/Dr. Spivak on 10/14/04, I will let everyone know how it goes, although I've received really good reviews about him, he's very experienced in Lap Surgery, which I really, really like (don't want to be cut open), well, we'll see.
10/13/04...I've decided to go with Dr. Adam Naaman instead of Dr. Spivak, mostly because he's a preferred providor under my insurance, so it's less out of pocket. Yesterday I completed my nutrition and psy eval. and they both gave me an "all clear", but realized I didn't get a letter from my phyisician giving me a "all clear" for surgery. I have a appt to see Dr. Naaman on the 26th to talk about RNY.
1-17-05....Well, I was denied by BCBS, so after talking it over with my hubby, we've decided to go the self pay route with Dr. Spivak, I've heard great things about him, we're hoping I can get it done Feb 23rd, I have an appointment with Dr. Spivak on Jan 31st to talk about the Lapband procedure.
I thought he would be a nerd from his photo. I went to the seminar and felt that he was honest, upfront and actually very funny! The seminar was held at the day surgery clinic and it was extemely clean and well decorated. I was dissappointed that even though the seminar was 12/14, I was unable to get an appointment until 1/6/05. But that gives me time to continue my research and make my list of questions. Plus who wants a surgeon that can see you or answer the phone when you call. YIKES! Good, solid professionals are always in demand. So I wait...
Today I went to see him and rushed to be on time and had to wait almost a full hour after my scheduled appointment before seeing him. However, he did not seem rushed or in any type of hurry. He was very candid about my situation and even advised me in terms of, "If you were my sister,..." which in my opinion means that he genuinely cares for his patients and hasn't forgotten what a huge life changing decision WLS is for the individual. I feel I'm in good competent hands!
I was very impressed with him. He was very informative. My Husband and I meet to his informational meeting and to his office. His whole staff has been wonderful. You cannot go wrong with him by your side and the leader of your team. His office staff has been so helpful any time I call.
He is a very caring person and a wonderful doctor.
No
I really didn't care for the nurses.
Not very kind or friendly people. Did not listen very well. Quick to point out faults.
She did, but after the surgery some questions I had before the surgery the answers change after surgery.
Everyone will make there own judgement. Dr. Spivak is great. I went to two of his seminars. The were very imformative. Dr. Spivak has excellent bedside manner. I seen him before the surgery in his office and before I went in for surgery he came by to make sure I was ok and ready for surgery. Afterward he came by to check on me . He is a very friendly and truly caring doctor. My family doctor had the same surgery I did and he reffered Dr. Spivak. I trust my doctor very much and now I trust Dr. Spivak very much. He makes you feel so comfortable.
What he has can not be taught at any school. I would reffer Dr. Spivak to everyone. I have nothing at all to say bad about him. He also does not beat around the bush about anything he tells you like it is and I really appricate that. I like honesty.
What was your first impression of him/her?
Dr Spivak has some of the best bedside manners of any physician I have met. He truly was looking out for my health.
How would you describe his/her office staff?
The first time I met them I would say they were very informative and gave me the releife of I was not alone and together this team would stick by me during all of this.
How would you rate him/her overall?
I would rate him as one of the best I have ever known or seen.
Dr. Spivak was sent from God to provide me with a longer lifespan. From the moment I walked into his office the first day, until today, I have felt his caring spirit for his patients. Dr. Spivak has an excellent bedside manner, and has the uncanny ability to make you feel as if you are important to him. I have suggested him to several friends who are considering having the surgery. Dr. Spivak, thank you so very much for your help in this journey.
My first impression of Dr. Spivek was that he was professional with an open and sincere manner.
His staff reflects the same sincer and open manner. They were extremely helpful in helping me pursue help from my insurer.
Dr. Spivak and his staff have been wonderful so far in the process of getting me ready for surgery.
I first met Dr. Spivak when we went to the orientation a year ago. Back in Dec 2003 Spivak did my husband's lapband. I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and candor. Some people may be at first meeting taken back since his accent is a little strong. PLEASE do not let this put you off. He is extremely concerned about his patients' health as well as being very experienced.
I met with Dr. Spivak earlier this year for myself. Due to other medical issues we decided the RNY bypass would be a better selection for me than the band. Dr. Spivak's office took care of almost all the paperwork and pre-op work. I was lucky, United Healthcare approved my surgery on the first pass.
After extensive consult with my neurosurgeon I had the RNY and Gallbladder surgery three weeks ago. I will not lie the surgery is extremely painful. But the care I recieved at the hospital was excellent, both by the hospital staff but also by Dr. Spivak. I have full confidence I could not have picked a better surgeon. I have and would recommend him.
Also Rachel, Shirley & Brenda are the best. They are extremely responsive and treat you like a VIP.
