OhioHealth Weight Management Bariatric Center
From my first meeting I have no qualms about letting Dr Sonnanstine do my WLS. Will update as necessary. rnrn After having the surgery I am glad to have chosen Dr. Sonnanstine to perform my WLS. He was very attentive to all that happened during and after the surgery. He was in to see me in my room 2-3 times a day at least. My mom was there for support and Dr. Sonnanstine took the time to explain everything to her and help her set any fears to the side.rnrn Dr. Sonnanstine is very big on aftercare. His program has four classes you attend before you even have the surgery. After WLS there is post-op classes every month, along with a follow-up visit with both the psychologist and nutritionist. Thats not counting the number of times you will see him the rest of your life.rnrn I cannot recommend him more than this is the only Dr you want doing this surgery. You would just about be crazy to let anyone else perform WLS on you. Well unless you just can't afford the airfare to get here to let Dr. Sonnanstine do your surgery.rnrn Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are top notch. He is an excellent choice to perform WLS
Dr. Sonnanstine is the best baratric surgeon in my opinion. When I first met him, he was so helpful and answered all my questions. He explained the Lap-Band procedure to me and put any fears I had to rest. I knew that I was in the right place when he told me he would be my doctor for life. It was such a good feeling to know that he was determined to see me succeed. The office staff couldn't be any more helpful. Any time I had to call or had any questions, they were more than willing to help. Taryn is without a doubt, the best. She was always there, especially after my surgery. Since my surgery, Dr. Sonnanstine and the staff at the office, have been so encouraging and supportive. Every time I go in, they tell me how good I look and how well I am doing. I can't say how great that makes me feel. If I could go to Dr. Sonnanstine for everything, I would. I recommend him 100%!
* Well educated and caring.rn* Over time I found out that his caring is not an act, that you are a person of importance to him and his staff. rn* Well informed, caring, compassionate, and real.rn* Nothingrn* That he is the only local Bariatric surgeon who completed a Fellowship and did not receive his training over 1 weekend.rn* Following surgery you will again meet up with the dietitian, and psychologist. They stress that the mind and body need to work together.rn* Yes, they have their staff of dietitians and psychologist at your disposal as well as a monthly support group meeting.rn* Yes, Dr. Sonnanstine and his staff do a thorough job explaining what the risk are as well as how to make this tool work for you benefit.rn*EXCELLENTrn* I feel the whole package is essential. After having 2 near death experiences I decided that not only did I want doctors around me who knew their stuff but cared about my wellbeing and that I was not a number and some money in their pocket. Dr. Sonnanstine is the whole package!
I decided on Dr. Tom Sonnanstine because he removed my gallbladder in 2004. He was wonderful especially since that was my very first surgery. He also operated on a friend of mine and she also raved about him. I felt comforterable from the very beginning because I felt like I already knew him. I honestly can not think of one bad thing about Dr. Tom. He is really wonderful and caring. I would recommend Dr. Tom to everyone because I feel confident in his knowledge and abilities along with a wonderful bedside manner that makes you know you are going to be just fine. He made me feel like he really wanted me to succeed in weight loss for my health and well being. The office staff that I have met to date have been experienced and knowledgeable and very helpful. If Dr. Tom or his staff have had an \"OFF\" day (meaning...not nice or not helpful) I haven't seen it or experienced it yet.
My surgeon is so wonderful. He is very friendly. Truely knowledgable about the different options, and specializes in wls. His office staff is also wonderful. They know you by name when you walk in the door and that is a really good feeling. I would highly recommend my surgeon to anyone looking for the best doctor they can get. My friend that referred me to my DR. said something that has stuck with me through this entire thing, he's cocky, but that just means he knows he's good.
I love Dr. Sonnanstine. in a motherly sort of way he is the sweetest person. He's caring and very skilled , his bed side manner is caring and very personable.rn His staff is wonderful they are there for you from day 1, and just as caring and wonderful after surgery. They are there to answer you questions and help you all the way.rn If you are looking for a center with great care before and after ,Dr Sonnanstine and his staff can't be beat they are great .Both thier surgical skill and bedside manner are wonderful.
Dr.Sonnanstine was very personalable and very informative at my first meeting with him, which was in a informal group seminar. There were many of us there and he answer all of our questions with the greatest of ease. rnHe told us that he teaches other Doctors in third world countries the proper procedures to WLS. This was very impressive. So far, he has done the most LAP WLS, then any other Doctor in the Tri-State area. He told us that if we chose to go through with the surgery, he would be our doctor for life and he wanted to see us at least 6 times per year. This surgery is a life long committment, on our part and his. One of his staff members was attending the seminar and she had the surgery, we were encouraged to ask her anything and again she was very informative. He did not do the surgery on those that smoked, we would have to quit if we wanted the surgery. He told us both the pros and the cons of the surgery. It is only a tool and is not to be taken lightly. Although it is elective surgery we have to be committed to do this for life. We would meet with him first one on one, and then a psych, then a Nut, plus we would have to attend 4 Nutritional classes before we would be eligible to have the surgery. He would do the surgery on anyone between the age of 18 to 75. He can do both the Lap band and the Lap RYN. He encourages us to do the Lap RYN, because that is where his expertise lies. I really was impressed and excited to continue my journey with this Dr. I encourage all that are interested in Northern Ky and Greater Cincinnati area to seek out Dr. Sonnanstine first and compare, his abilities with all other Drs. offering the same WLS.rnWhen I first went in for my consultation his staff took my picture so that they could put a face with my name, he encourages his whole staff to get to know us all. I love the atmosphere of the office and the staff. Dr. Sonnanstine was just as personable with the group as one on one.rnI had to pay $300 in order to continue and before the surgery would have to have the last $300 paid in full to pay for the program fee, which included my 4 Nutrition Classes, my one on one with the Psych and Nutritionalist. rnDr. Sonnanstine told me of both the risks and the benefits of each operation, he let me choose. I rate him as one of the best in his field. He was not pushy but at the same time he was confident with his abilities to help me as much as I was committed to be helped.rnI am looking forward to continuing a life long relationship with this compentent Dr. Don't forget to check him out, it will be quite an experience. rnDid I mention that he has also helped ones that had to have revisions due to other Dr.s incompentence? A sign of a very capable Dr. rnrnI went back to Dr. Tom for my check up and the staff stated that they did not receive the rest of my program fee. I owed them another $300, and I ask if I could give her half and she agreed. So I must have forgotten to finish paying my Dr. Not good on my part!! I still owe $150 but she stated that I could pay a little each month. I was fine with that. I saw Dr. Tom and he was pleased with my progress and said that I would see him again in 6 months. So I am well pleased with him as a Surgeon and his staff as ones that will work with their patients. The staff has always encouraged me to call them if I have any questions or complications. This makes me very satisfied in knowing that I choose the right Weight Loss Center for my needs. Did I also mention that Dr. Sonnanstine and his staff were now a facility that was awarded a Weight Loss Center with the name of \"Weight Loss Center of Excellence\"? Yes, and also Dr. Thomas Sonnanstine was voted as Dr. Dreamy!! There was a contest with Grey's Anatomy, that ones had to vote on their choice of a \"Dr. Dreamy\" and he was one of them. Now that makes a great testamony of the type of Dr. and staff that anyone in the Greater Cincinnati, Tri-State area are looking for WLS should consider. Go check it out, you won't be sorry!! It can only change your life!!
I think that Dr. Sonnanstine is GREAT! He is so easy to talk to. I love, love, love his office staff. They are so sweet and genuine. I have never met a better bunch of gals. I am so glad that my friends sent me to the best Dr. in the world. He truly has a wonderful program, and compared to what I have looked into, there really isn't another one like it out there. He requires you to have a one on one with the Dietition and Psychologist. You also have a group nutrition class, 2 psychological classes, a taste testing class, and a group class with Dr. Sonnanstine, thats right, the man himself. He shows two videos. A lap band and a gastric bypass. He opens the floor up for any and all questions. That was the coolest class ever. I truly feel good about my decision. I don't know if I would have gone through with this if it were not for him and his staff.
Wow! Dr. Sonnanstine was so personable and genuine. I could tell that he was been truthful with me and not just telling me what I wanted to hear. He explained that the struggle was not going to end with WLS. WLS is a life long change and not a cure. I have to be dedicated to make it work for me. I appreciate this honesty. He really was Great!
