OhioHealth Weight Management Bariatric Center
Dr. Sonnanstine is an excellent doctor. He is surgically competent, personable, and very accessible. His program includes extensive pre- and post-op instruction and care, and all staff members are friendly and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone considering either gastric bypass or gastric banding.
He is sooo personable. He makes you feel like you are the only person in the room. I like him more and more everytime I see him. I have no dislikes. Future patients should know I would recommend him over and over again. He has his own psychiatric nurse and nutritionist and classes before and support groups after surgery. I've been told that he is an excellent surgeon and will find out on May 19th.
He tells you like it is up front, no beating around the bush. He means what he saids, if he tells you to quit smoking at least 6wks before surgery, by george you better for if you don`t he won`t do the surgery, he will just send you back home. That`s my kind of Dr. When I left his office I felt he was interested in me for my well being and not my pocket book.rnHe does want you to go to group meetings once a month on regular basis and don`t hesitate to call his office for anything, he will be my Dr. for life.rn He is the Dr. McDreamy of St. Luke Hospital...rnHis office staff is awesome, they would give you 110% if you would need it. I really appreciate everything Kristine has done for me with the insurance co. She always has her work cut out for her working for Dr. Sonnanstines patients to get approval from their insurance companies.rn I`m so excited about having my surgery I know I will be a healthier and happier person when I reach my goal. rn I want to Thank Dr. Sonnanstine and All his Staff for helping me to get on the road to find the Old Me Again.rn Surgery Date is 4/9/08 and I know I will reach my goal with my New Families help at Tristate Surgical Weight Loss Center.
First Impression of Dr. Sonnanstine was Confidence.rnOver time he appeared to be genuinely concerned and wanting to help m situation as if I was his only Pateint.rnOffice Staff was great. I think his practice has grown to the point to where he could add some staff to assist with the insurance portion as the lady that takes care of this seems so stressed all of the time.rnNo problems with the Doc. Only minor issues with Insurance Staff. But I understance the pressure she was under.rnHe is without a word the best of the best in Northern Kentucky. You won't find a better Bariatric Surgeon in this area.rnHe explains during mandatory group sessions that once you go through this surgery you are a patient of his for life. Almost you become part of his family.rnI haven't went through the surgery yet, but I have no doubt that his after care is a meticulous as his pre care.rnHe was very open and honest about the risks of the Surgery. He explained it very simply as brain surgery on your belly.rnOn a 1 to 10 scale I would rate him a 10 no doubt.rnSurgical Competence and Bedside Manner are both awesome.rnOne other thing that impressed me about Dr. Tom was after I had the surgery I would see him 3 times or more a day checking on me and giving me updates. This attention to detail and personalized attention to patience is critical and he was great. I had heard the nurses mention over and over that he lived at the hospital indicating he spent what ever time it took to get the job done. If you live in Kentucky or Greater Cincinnati Area he is the best.rnrnCheck this link to see for your self.rnrnhttp://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Thomas+Sonnanstine+MD+ntm.html
What can I say about Dr. Tom that hasn't already been said? The guy is awesome. He built a first class program, with a wonderful staff. The fact that him and his team had input on the REALIZE band that I will be getting blew my mind. He doesn't see each patient as another person through the door; he seems to have the best intentions for each person in mind. And that detail to individuals is really what sets the program apart.
From the first time i met him he was honest, yet kind caring and compassionate at the same time.
I wondered where he learned to care about us big people, because he does most doctors i have been to dont know how to deal with the obese much less the super morbidly obese, but he does.
He has a bedside manner like i have never known before ,he treats you like you are his one and only patient. He becomes your friend and you know you can go to him withot redicule.
It has been 11 months since my surgery and i dont know where i would be without the surgery.
He had a filter put in because i am a big girl and im so happy he did.I can honestly say he has saved my life in more ways than one i have a life now im free from weighing 526 pounds and wondering if my next breath will be my last.
I can walk. breathe ,my children have their mom back and my husband has his wife,i still have along ways to go,but thanks to him im well on my way...
I keep his number in my purse and when people ask about my weight loss i give them his number and tell them here is the number of the man who saved my life,he will treat you well and will be honest with you.
If you are looking for someone who will put your best interest at heart and be honest with you and take excellent care of you it is Dr.Sonnanstine.
I am a human being wether i weigh 700 pounds or 110 and i know i deserve to be treated with respect and from Dr.Sonnanstine and his staff i received that.
My whole family plus my friends where really in awe of the care i received from him .
He has excellent support for his patients support groups and you our given lots of instructions and you can call.
He has given me the tool and its my place to use it the way i should.

If you want to know more of how he has helped me send me a message on my profile.
Thanks Dr. Sonnanstine
Deciding on having WLS was a difficult decision. Deciding on a surgeon was even more difficult. As soon as I met Dr. Sonnanstine, I knew I had made the right choice. He made me feel very comfortable and at ease. He was open to any questions and was available at all times. The program that he designed has helped me prepare for the surgery and has made post-op life much easier. rnrnRecently I have had some problems with my band, and Dr. Tom has been there for me throughout the whole thing. The situation was very upsetting and he was right by my side comforting me. He walked me through the procedure and made me more relaxed. He was great with updating my family and coming to see me multiple times while in the hospital. He was geniunely concerned and very compassionate. Again, he has been the best doctor I could have chosen!!
