I had surgery w/ Dr. Shope on 12/8/06 and met with him twice beforehand. While he doesn't seem like the most talkative person I've ever met, he was quite personable each time I spoke with him, answered all of my questions (and I had a LOT) honestly, clearly, and thoroughly, and was very patient. rnrnHe did an OUTSTANDING job with my procedure (lap RNY); I had minimal (if any) pain afterwards, and 4 of the 5 tiny incisions are barely even noticeable less than 3 weeks after surgery. rnrnI was also pleased to note that, when he came to visit me post-op, he went right to the hand-sanitizing pump before even coming to my bedside-- unlike most of the nurses who cared for me during my stay. Attention to little details like that made me certain that I was in good hands and made the right choice in going with Dr. Shope. rnrnI really can't say enough good things about him-- he is just really great at what he does, plain and simple.

Very young (anyone remember Doogie Houser?) but very kind and personable. Was willing to answer any and all questions I had and was not rushed. He was very frank about the risks and benefits of the surgery. The program at Hershey Medical Center is very structured and requires alot of hoop jumping before you even get to see a surgeon. Hershey also has a very structured aftercare program that they highly emphasize.

My surgeon, Dr. Timothy Shope is fabulous. I immediately liked him when I met him. HE made me feel at ease and was very knowledgeable. He is very caring and compassionate. He was very thorough in explaining about the surgery and the risks involved. He seems very competent and has a great personality. He really stressed having a good support team for after surgery as well. From our first meeting I would rate him a 10 out of 10.

I liked his bedside manner and he's very knowledgeble.

My first impression of Dr. Shope was wow he is short and have little hands perfect for surgery. Dr. Shope was very nice he told me everything I needed to know twice. He is a very sweet, kind person to deal with I him recommend to anyone.

Dr. Shope was very nice and informative. I felt he cared about my questions and concerns. the staff was friendly and efficient. all risks of surgery were gone over a few times to ensure I understood them. I give Dr. Shope and his fellow Dr. Reinke an excellent rating and would reccommend him to anyone.

My first impression of Doctor Shope was a good one. I'm a very friendly person and when he first introduced himself to me, he called me Mrs. F_____. I told him to call me Jules and he stated that he wouldn't as he wanted to maintain a professional atmosphere. While that put me off at first, he was very friendly and took the time to answer all of my questions. I didn't meet with him before surgery but, after surgery, he checked on me and was very kind and encouraging. I just had my follow-up appointment with him yesterday (10-11-04), and my impression has not changed one bit. His office staff is also very helpful and courteous. Special kudos to Dawn for being so kind and coordinating this entire process. She is an invaluable resource for HMC.

I guess what I like best about Doctor Shope is his realness. He has an easy-going personality and it shows through in his work. My husband also had the procedure done approximately one month prior to my surgery and he had a different doctor within the same group. In making comparisons, which one can't always avoid, I feel far better off in having had Dr. Shope as my surgeon.

I am in a structured aftercare program, including follow-up visits with Dr. Shope and the nutritionist, along with my family doctor. During my first visit with Dr. Shope, he (and/or his colleagues) addressed all the pros and cons of the surgery, and made sure I knew what they were.

My overall rating for Doctor Shope is high. Of all the doctors I've seen in my life, he rates near the top. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

Dr Shope is a very professional man with a vrey positive attitude. I have recommended him others and will continue. The overall program at Hershey Med Center is A+ with great pre and post care by the entire staff. I am so thankful that my PCP referred me to this program.
