WeightWise Bariatric Program Bariatric Center
I did not go see Dr Broussard for surgery. My RNY was done 10+ years ago and I have found myself sick and unable to eat for the past several months. After tests, it was found that I have gerd and an ulcer in my pouch. I also have horrid dumping and intestinal problems. I heard they had a good program, so I decided to seek the good Doctors help. If you want someone to hold your hand and tell you that nothing is your fault, don't see Dr Broussard. I am one who believes in personal accountability, and knew I had no idea how to fix this on my own, so his honesty was refreshing.
He informed me that the condition of my pouch was completely self induced. There were many rules that I have not followed (several of them I actually wasn't aware of). He set me on a course for success, using his entire staff. I saw the exercise people and found the intensity of my current workouts are actually too high. I saw the nutritionist and found out what vitamins I need to be successful and feel good for life. Then I was put on an eating plan to try to keep my pouch happy, while also getting my metabolism out of shutdown mode. I have only been eating one meal a day, and my body is holding on to everything I give it. I am on 4 protein shakes/soups/cocoa's per day, and one meat at night consisting of low fat protein and vegetables. His belief is, I will feel like a new woman in a month.
I was worried about putting anything in my pouch that often, but so far, it isn't making me any sicker. I appreciate the Weight Wise team for being honest and compassionate when I needed direction. For any of you considering RNY, please educate yourself on the do's and don'ts. I am a shining example of what you can do to yourself if you go into denial about having a gastric bypass and try to live like you did before surgery.
I first went to the seminar that Dr. Broussard gave. I was very impressed. I liked the up front view and manner he had. He was what I call straight from the hip shooter. He didn't sugar coat anything. He didn't say things just to make the surgery look good. He told us the cons as well as the pros.
My first appt with him was ok. I had to wait quite a long time in the pt room with no one keeping me updated on why the wait. For a first visit that was kind of nerve racking. In my head I was hoping this wasn't the way it will always be. When he finally came in it seemed like he was just reading off the computer instead of asking me direct questions. For now that is all that I have directly experianced with him.
His staff has been wonderful. Everyone in the clinic has been friendly and helpful. The rest of my first visit was fast. Saw the exercise physiologist and the Dietitian and they explained things very well. I also met my patient advocate, Lisa Morris. I have had a great experience this far with her. My method of communication with her has been emails. She is very prompt in returning them. She does't wait till the end of the day. She returns them all through the day. She has helped with with all kinds of issues and scheduling things not done at their facility. I really think she is on top of her job. Since this was my first visit I am only able to give a one time view.
I did go to my first support group last pm. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It was a large group. There were a lot of varity of pre and post op patient. Also the age group. I think I had a lot of questions answered just by listening to all the others. Good group I look forward to coming back.
Thank you to the staff and the surgeon who took the time and expertise to share valuable information to us at the Saturday seminar. Marsha was wonderful and showed us around and made us feel welcome and comfortable with all the processes. Amy was very kind to come in on her own time to share her story.
I am a new patient to the Weight Wise clinic in Edmond. I have had my initial consultation and met Dr. Walton. So far I am very impressed with him and the staff. They are all very compassionate, caring people. Dr. Walton is straight forward and very informative. I like a doctor that says what needs to be said and doesn't sugar coat things. The staff are very professional and the clinic is very clean and welcoming. I am excited to have such a great group of people taking care of me during my future procedure.
At my very first appointment with Dr. Walton, I knew he was the right surgeon for me. Not only is he friendly and professional, you can also tell that he enjoys his job and enjoys helping his patients. His patient advocate has always been there for me and I always get a quick answer to all my questions. He also has a very friendly staff that goes over diet and exercise this includes all the nurses and secretaries. Every person in that office knew how to help someone out and answer questions. They were always on the same page! They didn't confuse me with different answers to the same question. Dr. Walton also emphasizes how important his post op after care is to continued success with the weight loss. I would highly recommend Dr. Walton for anyone wanting to have weight loss surgery.
