Forrest Ringold, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
WHEN I FIRST MET MY DOCTOR I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED WITH HIM EVEN THOUGH HE WAS NOT MY
ORIGINAL CHOICE. I WANTED ONE OF HIS PARTNERS
BUT HE WAS BOOKED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. I HAD
MY SURGERY ON 5/23/01. AFTER THE INITIAL 24
HRS OF NO LIQUIDS I TRIED TO DRINK WATER, AND
BROTH BUT NOTHING WOULD STAY DOWN. I KEPT
ASKING THE NURSES STAFF IF THIS WAS NORMAL AND THE TOLD ME SOMETIMES IT TOOK A FEW DAYS
TO GET ON TRACK. THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THE SAME
I WAS EVEN THROWING UP WHEN I DID NOT EAT OR
DRINK ANYTHING. IT WAS SOME KIND OF MUCUS-LIKE MATERIAL. AFTER 4 LONG DAYS OF THIS I
TOLD THE NURSE TO CALL DR. LANE. I WAS INFORMED HE HAD GONE OUT OF TOWN FOR THE
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. AN PARTNER IN HIS OFFICE CAME IN AND ORDERED AN UPPER GI TO SEE
IF HE COULD FIND THE PROBLEM. DR. LANE HAD
LEFT A KINK IN MY INTESTINE!!NO WONDER I COULDN'T EAT OR DRINK. I WAS SCHEDULED FOR
A SECOND SURGERY THE NEXT DAY. IN THE MEAN
TIME A TUBE WAS INSERTED IN MY STOMACH TO
PUMP OUT ALL THE YUCK THAT HAD BUILT UP AND
WAS CAUSING ME TO THROW UP. BOY WAS THAT FUN!
I SPENT A DAY IN ICU AFTER THE SECOND SURGERY
DUE TO A FEVER CAUSED BY THE CENTRAL LINE THAT DR. LANE HAD PUT IN BEFORE THE SECOND
SURGERY. HE WAS TWO FOR TWO ON MY CASE!! I
DID NOT SEE HIM BUT ONE MORE TIME BEFORE I
WENT HOME BUT HE DID APOLOGIZE TO ME WHEN I
WENT FOR MY WEEKS CHECKUP FOR PUTTING ME
THROUGH SO MUCH. I KNOW HE IS A COMPETENT
SURGEON I GUESS HE JUST HAD A BAD DAY.
I think very highly of Dr. weinstein. I am very glad I chosen him to do my surgery. He has great bed side manners and cares about his patients and is straight to the point. I would recommend him to anyone who need a surgeon. I know that everyone is not perfect but I cant say anything negative at this time and done plan on haveing too. lol
I met Dr. Weinstein and he is wonderful. Took a long time with me and even drew pictures. I go July 13th to get pre-op procedures and get a date. I am so excited!!!
On my first visit with Dr. Lane I was astonished at the time he spent with me. Doctors usually walk in, read your chart and walk back out, but he pulled up a chair and actually listened to me. I had a lot of questions and he answered them all. He explained the procedure, risk involved, and most importantly he gave me the statistics. This was important because it let me relate previous surgeries to this one. This surgery carries the same or less risks as any other surgery performed on an obesed person. I wouldn't say his staff was friendly, but they were not rude either. They were busy taking care of patients and paperwork. They are extremely friendly and patient over the phone. I called (pestered) them several times, but they never got ugly with me and always did what they promised. We talked about aftercare and I'm sure he'll tell me more after the surgery. So far he's an eight, but I'll tell more after the surgery.
Dr. Weinstein is an angel in disguise. He was very upfront with me about everything, but he has totally supported me through the whole ordeal. He is very knowledgable about the surgery and how it works. I get more amazed every time I go for a check-up at his compassion for the obese. His office staff is very nice, and also very supportive. He doesn't want to play. He wants your mind to be totally made up, so you can put forth your best effort. He is always asking questions at my post-op visits to be sure I'm following all the "rules" and taking care of myself.
EXCELLENT SURGEON. EXCELLENT BEDSIDE MANNER.
MY IMPRESSION IS THE SAME.
VERY FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE.
NOTHING.
THAT HE SHOULD BE EVERY ONE'S FIRST CHOICE FOR A SURGEON.
VERY GOOD IN FOLLOW-UP AND POST-OP.
THEY ARE AFFILIATED WITH A SUPPORT GROUP AT
THE MAIN HOSPITAL....
HE ADDRESSED ALL OF THE CONCERNS.
HE IS A MOST EXCELLENT SURGEON.
BOTH ARE GREAT....
I really liked him. He took the time to talk to me and answer all my questions. His staff was very friendly. They told me what I would need before my first visit so that I could bring as much as possible with me. He has taken time to talk to me at each visit and was very nice to my husband and didnot mind talking to him. He let me know all the risks and was very detailed about what to expect after the surgery. He has been very supportive and pleased with my progress. The only negative is the lack of any type of support group. This may be due to my distance from his office.
Dr. Lane is a tall slender man who appear to
be in his mid thirties. He was very professional, yet down to earth. He wanted to be sure I understood all of the possible risk and the long term committment to diet and exercise. I had done my homework, so I was familar with the procedure reccommended. The staff was friendly and helpful. I've called several times and they have been helpful on each occassion. As far as my first visit goes, I'm impressed.
My first impression was that he's in a hurry. I understand he has several patients however, that irritated me a little. The nurses are funny and helpful at the same time. Today, I met Ann and I really liked her.
I think future patients should do their research and formulate a list of questions. Even somewhat rushed, Dr. Weinstein took the time to answer my 30+ questions thoroughly making sure i understood everything. He also explained the risks and benefits again. I would say he is a realist--nothing can be imagined; a very fact-based doctor.
Be very patient when you go to his office. My appointment was at 10:15 and I wasn't seen until noon.
Overall, however, I would rate him an eight out of ten. I liked his matter-of-fact attitude. I wouldn't have liked a "sugar-coat everything" kind of doctor.
He, and the surgeons in his group, have performed over 2000 Gastric Bypasses since 1975. I would say that makes him a competent surgeon!
