Fairfield County Bariatrics Bariatric Center
Dr. Floch has been a great influence on me through the whole process. He genuinely cares about your success through this whole life changing experience. He helped me through an extremely difficult period before my surgery and help motivate me to keep everything on the path to success. I would recommend anyone in the Tri-State area that wishes to take this major step to stop down and speak with him or his brother or Dr. Ehrlich.
I had attended information sessions at a couple of other places before I went to the one that Dr. Neil Floch did at Norwalk Hospital. This was different right away.
Other places felt like an Amway meeting. It was all about signing me up and answering questions later. The presentations were not professional and usually done by an assistant to an assistant. They could answer very few questions that was not already in the handout.
Upon arrival at Norwalk, I was welcomed by someone who made eye contact. I was told there were informational folders available that I could take if I was interested, versus having a stack of forms shoved at me and told to fill them out.
I liked that one of the surgeons was giving the session. The presentation was professional and was detailed. He even had some video of a lapband being put into place.
At the initial consultation, everyone that I met was great. They go over the details with you as if you were the only person they were seeing that day. That included Dr. Floch.
They emphasize aftercare a great deal. In fact, one year of aftercare is included in the price, because they want to ensure that it is done.
I like the whole approach that they take. It is not just about getting the surgery done and then I am on my own.
I am not one who is easily impressed, but so far I have not encountered anything negative to report. It is still early in the process of course.
I am now in the process of seeing the other doctors he referred me to. Once that has been completed, I hope to obtain a surgery date.
7/4/2005 Update:
I have a surgery date of 7/12/2005 set. I have been to see the myriad of doctors that were required. I am pretty persnickity about my health care providers and was not looking forward to a slew of folks that I did not select. However, they were all fantastic! I could not have done better myself. I had my pre-op appointment with Dr. Floch last week. What I continue to like about him and his team (in no particular order):
1) they are candid and up front
2) they are respectful
3) they have a sense of humor
Dr. Neil Floch is a very kind man. From the day I met him I knew he was the one I wanted to perform my surgery. I showed up at one of his seminars with a HUGE list of questions. After the meeting he took some time and sat down with me to answer ALL of my questions and to address my concerns.
His staff is very sweet as well. At first I had a tiny issue with faxes being received and handled but that was taken care by Danielle. She is super sweet too! All of the women I have spoken to from that office are all very sweet.
Dr. Floch made me feel comfortable in his office. So many other Dr.'s out there treat the "Obese" in a rather negative manner. Dr.Floch is the complete opposite. I felt at ease talking to him and his sense of humor helped me feel less afraid as well.I am happy to recommend him to ANYBODY out there considering W.L.S.
I researched LAP-Band surgery for almost 2 years. As a RN, I am very particular as to what I want/dont want. When I attended the seminar at which Dr. Neil Floch presented the information, I knew immediately that he was the surgeon for me. He is sincere, understanding, respectful, gracious, extraordinary, outgoing, kind, caring, and compassionate. His office staff is understanding, helpful, and make you feel at ease. I recommend and will continue to recommend Dr. Floch to everyone who is interested in gastric LAP band surgery. Dr. Floch addressed the risks/benefits of all the bariatric surgeries. I think that surgical competence is of greatest importance, but bedside manner is important too...one has to feel comfortable with their surgeon...Dr. Floch is "one of a kind"...I trust him completely!!
My first impression of Dr. Floch was very positive. I met Dr. Neil Floch at a seminar at Hall-Brooke. Dr. Ehrlich was also there. After the Dr.'s finished their presentation they walked around the room to meet everybody. Dr. Floch came right over and introduced himself to me. He was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. He asked me if I had any questions about WLS..well for the next 15 minutes he sat there with me and my Mother and answered each question in detail. Shortly after meeting both Dr.'s I made my first appointment with Dr. Floch. I thank God that he was able to see me.
I haven't had the surgery yet but I am getting closer each day. I know in my heart that Dr.Floch will do everything he can to help me with the wight loss journey ( as well as the office staff...thank you Denise for your patience.)
Once I have my WLS I will be SURE to update this section. Thank you!
My first impression of Dr. Neil Floch was very good actually because every question that he was asked, he made eye contact and answer promptly and with a lot of knowledge.
Then things gotten much better as i got to talk to him in private on my first consultation and impressed how humble he is and how much he really cares. He went through a lot of details with me, being very polite, honest and caring.
I could not say that there were a least thing I liked about Dr. Neil Floch, i would do all over again with him. He is the ultimate professional being honest, caring and knowing his stuff. Very competent.
My after care was so great!! I was a little down and he even called my house a few days to see how i was doing and kind of pumping me up, telling me that was momentarily. Also his right hand and a great human being Danielle called me also and was promptly to help at any time..
Dr. Floch has groups where is very well organized and that a lot of things are talked about after the surgery. As concerns, worries, questions.
I would rate him the higest possible A+, 100%, Excellent, the best. And i did see another doctor that did not care half as Dr. Neil Floch did.
He is extremly competent as a doctor and a great caring human being. He truly cares about how his patients feels and that shows. When he takes the time to call, answer as many questions (even when i asked the same ones over and over).
My first impression was WOW how young and good looking!!!.I felt very comfortable very fast. His office staff are very nice and understanding so is he.I will recomend him to any body that wants this surgery done.He explained everything to me, the pros and cons of each surgery, even drew them for me to make the explaining easier. They are GREAT!!!!!
My name is Susan B., and my first office visit with Dr. Neil Floch was on Friday December 6th 2002. I found him to be, informative and funny (humerous). His office staff was as helpful as humanly possible when I asked them a question on a subsequent visit (to bring my xeroxed Health Insurance card that I accidently left at home). They didn't have the solid answer about the meeting, but they tried to find out for me.
Dr Floch addressed the risks of surgery, and he was the one who gave me this website after "surfing the net" had come up in our consultation. The thing I liked least about him is that he has only done 4 Laproscopic Surgeries so far, but he has over 4 years of Open Surgery experience. Dr. Floch also told me about Pre-Op meetings at Norwalk Hospital (CT.) that meet from 6-8 pm on the first Wednesday of each month-except for January 8th 2003. Sincerely, Susan B. 12/18/02.
May 11th 2003 I had my wls with Floch Surgical and Associates on 2/25/03, and I have found Dr. Erlich, Dr. Neil Floch ane the office staff, especially Jen, to be professional, honest, caring and "all around wonderful" during this whole process. They respond in a timely manner to all my questions, and with both doctors I
can really tell that they truely care and aren't in the "Dr. Business" just to make good money! I am so glad that I found Dr. Floch and Dr. Erlich early on in my wls journey! They are wonderful doctors and I wish I had a better vocabulary so that I could fully express all my thoughts and feelings about their wonderful, dedicated and caring professionalism! I would definately recommend them to anyone in the New York City/Conn. area. Sincerely, Susan Bresnehan. Wed. 1/19/2004 I had my surgery with Dr Neil Floch (There are 3 Dr. Flochs in Norwalk!) at the end of February 2003. I had a complication while in my first 48 hours and he was VERY EXPEDIENT to redo my wls, open. I don't mind the extra scar, I think I even like it as some sort of "battle wound" with my weight loss process! I was in the Noralk Hospital in Conn. for NINE DAYS! By day 6 or 7 I was willing to do ANYTHING TO get out and GO HOME! Dr. Neil Floch has a wonderful bedside manner. He is also very dedicated, as shown by his checking me on Sunday AM when he had the day off. There he was dresed in a Dark Bkue SUIT, and there TO CHECK UP ON ME ONLY!! I found that very impressive. His office is a lot busier than when I had my surgery, but that doesn't keep him from showing his deep concern for his patientw when he sees a problem and they (I was) are blind to it! He has also purchased new chairs in the past couple month that are realy wide, and within weeks of my becomming his paient he ordered and received a digital scale. His old Bi-beam Balance Scale did not go up to 308 lbs., which is what I weighed in at then. I am VERY HAPPY WITH Dr. Neil Floch and his staff. They are very kind curteous, caring, write when I miss appointments, let me come in for an unscheduled weigh in(but can not write thoes in their file) so I can keeep up more often on the ups and downs of my weight than if I waited for my next appointment. If I had the WLS to do over again, I would do it with him-Dr. NEIL Floch. I wish him all the best in his continuing practice and I hope he reads this one day soon. Sincerely Susan Bresnehan [email protected]
I first met Dr. Craig Floch at one of his seminars. I found out about the seminar through a hospital flyer. My 1st impression of Dr. Craig Floch was quite impressive. He was very easy to talk to and seemed very honest. Over time my I am more confident that I chose the right group to take this journey with. The office staff is extremely helpful.
Aftercare was one thing that both the staff and Dr.'s emphazised.
Dr. Floch was very honest with the risks of surgery and was very patient in calming my nerves. Overall I am exteremely happy with my choice and would recomment him and his group to friends and family.
I think both surgical competence and bedside manner are important. If it wsn't for his great bedside manner I might have felt different about my complications.
