My first impression was that Dr. Stefanie Vaimakis, MD goes the extra mile with regard to procedure and patient care.rnrnThis was reconfirmed through the surgery process, and continued aftercare. The office staff is extremely professional and caring. rnrnI am extremely pleased with the results of the surgery, and the skill with which the surgery was performed. My biggest fear was that I wouldn't be able to have a lap surgery, but all went went. In fact, I went back to work one week after the surgery. rnrnOverall, and without any hesitation, I completely recommend Dr. Stefanie Vaimakis to anyone in the NY Metro area considering Gastric Bypass. She has not only saved my life, but completely changed it. Thank you.rnrn

I went to Dr. Sakowitz for my pre-op review. He was very knowledgeable about the surgery (lap-band) I was setting myself up for. We talked with great ease and although I was nervous at first by the time we were done I felt confident my decision was the right one for me!! He conducts weekly support meetings that I still attend. Our group is made up of both Bypass and Lap Band folks. I find our meetings let me vent and inquire. We share ideas and give great support to all the members. I look forward to my "Weekly Therapy" meetings. I use as a reset button, if I have had a great week I get to brag, and if it's been a crappy week I reset myself to do better! I also attend monthly support meetings held by my Nutritionist and I look forward to those too! Dr. Sakowitz has been a tremendous help and I thank him for his support!
I found Dr. Sakowitz to be very supportive and comforting during my evaluation. At first I was hesitant about paying a fee in advance but his promptness and efficiencey were well worth it. I was reimbursed most of the money by my insurance. Dr. Sakowitz also offers a weekly support group for after surgery which I find very helpful and enlightening. I highly recommend his services to all.
Dr. Sakowitz made me feel very comfortable. He allowed my husband to sit in on our session. I took a couple of tests (alcohol dependency and anxiety). We went over my answers and about the surgery. He is a very nice man and I would recommend him to all.
dr. abramson and his office staff are very professional. They were very helpful in dealing with my insurance co. My experience has been very positive and i'm very happy with my lower body lift.
On June 7th, 2004 Dr. Abramson performed a tummy tuck on me and on August 12th, 2004 he performed a breast reduction on me. I had difficulties with my tummy tuck do to an incisional infection and he monitored me very closely and was extremely responsive to my needs. I would use Dr. Abramson again and have recommended him to others. I am extremely satisfied with my tummy tuck and my new perky little boobs, lol.
When I first met Dr. Vaimakis I found her to be knowledgeable and very caring. Overtime as I got to know her I realized that my first impression was correct. Not only was Dr. Vaimakis wonderful but the entire staff of the Bergen Bariatric Center was wonderful as well. Future patients should know that the people in this surgical office will do anything for their patients. They are kind, caring, and loving people. When having surgery with Dr. Viamakis you know that you are always not only in good hands but in the best hands. Over the past year Dr. Viamakis has become one of my favorite people in the world and I take every chance I can to tell her. Her caring and dedication to her patients start from the minute she meets them and continues until well after surgery. Her personality and overall demeanor make surgery and a stay in the hospital a walk in the park. I believe that if you find a good doctor your overall success rate is bound to be wonderful. In my case I found the best doctor and attribute part of my success to her. She is definately a friend for life. ~Katie Simpson
Dr Ballantyne was very thorough at his info session. He even took the time to draw each of the procedures on a white board explaining what is done, how it performs, whether or not it is reversible, side affects, possible complications, and weight loss expectations as well as long term results.
The consult was at our pace. He did not rush us in the least and told us both that he felt we were candidates, however since we had Cigna approval would be difficult. This proved to be an understatement. in the end we have dropped Cigna because Dr B was having nothing but refusals and stopped even working with Cigna patients. I am forced to find another doctor even though I felt completely comfortable when dealing with him as a person and with his skill set.

My info session was conducted by Dr. Stefanie Vaimakis. She was great and I am looking forward to the consult with her and Dr. Ibrahim. He was detained in surgery.
Consult was professional yet light. She was compassionate and considerate of my need to have a date that fits into my work horizons. I have a good feeling about this!!
My good feeling has turned into a GREAT FEELING, the feeling that I had the best team out there! Thank you so much Dr. B for not moving forward for me. They were wonderful. I cannot say enough about the Doctors and staff at Bergen Bariatric Center especially Divorah and Dr. Stefanie Vaimakis.
My anatomy was a challenge and these doctors met the challenge with a rainbow!! THANK YOU.
