Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery Bariatric Center
My first impression was good and has not changed. the office and staff are very pleasant and easy to deal with. The more I learned about his prctice the more I knew he was right for me. Sometimes it is a little hard to get through to somrone at the office but if you leave a message they will get back to you. They tell you everything many times and will answer all questions so if your like me write them down and take them with you. So far I would give them a high rating, I have not had any problems with their performance. Dr. Irgau is surgically competent with a great bedside manor and his assistant is also extremely helpful.
Being a nurse and around surgeons alot he seemed impressive. He has a very reassuring manner.Dr. Irgau was able to explain things to me and my fried in a way that was easy to understand.
In my profession I have heard alot of horror stories and Dr. Irgua was able to h put me at ease very quickly.
The pre-op care and evaluation that I have recieved is very thought out and organized. The staff at Dr. Irgua'a office and the Christiana Institute of Preventivie Medicine and Rehab Institute are professinal and caring.
This is the third program that I have been to. And, I am so glad that I kept searching to find the best program in my area.
I cannot say enough about Dr Irgau, Dr. Wynn and Brett Gordon. They are absolutely the best. They are extremely through and the follow up care by them personally is outstanding. I feel Blessed to have them on my side and a major part of my surgery. I had all the confidence in the world going into this surgery. The only worry I had was of the unknown. Their surgical competence and bedside manner is like no other experience I have ever had with myself or other family members. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Thank God!! Good Job!!
I was very impressed with the office and they way I was treated from my very 1st telephone call. My husband went with me to the initial consultation and we were both very impressed with Dr. Irgau - not only his medical knowledge, but his compassion. I was having an emotional day and he was wonderful in explaining things and encouring me to explore any concerns with PMRI as part of my pre-op process. I went in with a lot of knowledge (gleaned from this site) and felt very good about the information he gave to me. I would highly recommend him.
I have only met with Dr. Irgau once, but I thought he was very personable and down-to-earth. He didn't try to talk down to you or use all technical terms when explaining the procedure. He was also very receptive to all of my questions (even though I had a 2-page list!) and answered each one of them directly without sugar coating or beating around the bush about the answers. I really appreciated that. The front desk staff at the office has been nothing but helpful and courteous from the very first time I called there. I still have 2 more visits with specialists and then I'll meet back with Dr. Wynn (his partner) for a pre-surgical consult. As long as there are no denials or complications with my insurance company, it looks like I'm on the way to a healthier (not to mention MUCH SMALLER!!!!!) me! I'll keep updates here as often as I possibly can.
********** 6/1 - Met with Dr. Irgau's partner, Dr. Wynn, on Fri. and I can't say enough about how confident I feel with entrusting my care to them. They are both very straightforward with their information and 'plan of attack' and seem to both be on the same page. I took my same list of questions/concerns, as well as a few that I've added since, and she not only gave the same answers with the same level of assuredness, but did not hesitate or stall. She seemed very knowledgeable and I was equally impressed with her as I was with Dr. Irgau. I can't wait to see what wonders they will do for me on June 10th!
*********** 6/2 - Scheduler sent info to BC/BS for approval. Keep your fingers crossed.
*********** 6/3 - Scheduler didn't send cardio info. Faxed it myself. Cross your toes now!!!!
*********** 6/4 - I am approved!!!!!!
Dr. Irgau and his partner, Dr. Wynn are wonderful. I would highly recommend them for anyone in the Delaware area. They both seem to be very concerned for their patients and are very easy to talk to. Some doctors make you feel rushed when you have your initial consult, but they take the time to answer any questions you or your family might have. They recommend follow-ups with a nutritionist one month post-op, and a nurse practitioner two months post-op. They also provide you with a schedule for support group meetings. One month after surgery, I developed kidney stones. I called Dr. Wynn because I had never had them before and I didn't know what was going on. She saw me within an hour of my call. Again, I would highly recommend them.
Dr. Irgaau (Wilmington, DE)first impressed me when I entered his office with the size of his chairs. The chairs are built for large people and you don't have to squeeze in and out of them. Dr. Irgaau took the time to explain the two different procedures to my wife and I, as well as drawing pictures and answering some of our more obvious questions. He treated both of us with respect, answering all of our questions at our level, and never once coming across as though he was pitching the procedure.
Dr. Irgaau and Dr. Wynn both require extensive pre-testing and recommend attending support group sessions prior to the surgery. These were helpful in gaining even additional information into judging how you will deal with the after-effects.
After the surgery, I saw Dr. Irgaau and Dr. Wynn daily and they were always cordial and helpful in answering questions. They were big on getting me up and getting me walking.
I have been thouroughly impressed with this team and their capabilities.
