Charles D. Callery M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
dr. callery was very nice. he made you feel like your specail.i owe my life to him. the office staff was very caring, nice.i recommend dr. callery to everyone.dr. callery was very caring after surgery, he tries to make sure your comfortable. he tells you all the risks up front and talks with you if you have any concerns.
Dr. Callery has such a calm demeaner and he makes you feel right at ease. The thing that struck me was his hands. He has the most beautiful hands of a surgeon I have ever seen. And being a nurse for 24 years I have seen many doctors hands.God has truly given him the gift of healing.I have two friends that have had the surgery with him and they are extraordinarly pleased with the outcomes.
They say the after care is wonderful. My experience so far has been very positive. My pre-op consult was excellent, Dr.Callery answered all my questions thoroughly. The office staff our great, very professional and attentive. They give you a test to make sure you understand everything. I scored a 100% so they must have done their job right.
My surgery date is scheduled for January 19th
2001. I will update you on how it all goes later.
First impression of Dr. Callery is that he is very compassionate as well as intelligent. His group orientation was very informative, if not a little long, lasting three hours. He graciously answered all questions.
At my consultation I got to meet a few of Dr. Callery's staff and I really liked everyone. Laurie was especially sweet and helpful, especially considering that I could not get a babysitter and had my 15 month old daughter with me!
Much of the appointment was spent going over a quiz they gave me. Any questions that I was unsure of were gone over thoroughly. Dr. Callery wants to make sure that you understand complications and risks as well as the benefits of surgery. I know that I am in good hands.
I found Dr. Callery to be a very professional and skilled surgeon. He is also the type of person that makes you feel calm and believe in him. That is important for all of us on the emotional rollercoaster prior to surgery (and post-op too). His informational seminar prior to seeing a patient is very informative. He candidly answers questions and examines the risks. His emphasis on aftercare is strong and he has a good support network. With the division of support groups into the recent post-ops (3 months) and a general support group, hopefully the needs of all are being met.
I did have some problems with his office staff. My approval was delayed by about a month due to their error. After making a complaint about the situation, I believe that my surgery date was scheduled later than it would have been had I not made the complaint. Then my surgery was moved up by a week with only a few days notice. This meant that plane reservations had to be changed, work schedules had to change, etc. I was happy to get the earlier date but it did make things difficult.
I would prefer that the waiting period between one's first consultation and the pre-op visit not be as long. It was over 4 months for me.
I am not a surgeon and therefore cannot give an informed opinion on Dr. Callery's surgical skills. However, I know that my surgery went exceptionally well, my scar is minimal, I have had no problems and I felt very good with Dr. Callery. I have confidence in him and believe that he cares about his patients. Surgical skill is of primary importance to me but feeling good about your doctor and believing that he cares about you go a long way towards ones mental well being. I was lucky enough to have found it all in Dr. Callery.
My very first impression of Dr Charles Callery was "What a Nut" he was very informative and a pleasure to be around.
His office staff is very very nice and sweet, caring, and understand not to mention very patient.
There is nothing I did not like about Dr. Callery. He seems to be your average every day type of guy and could truely and easily be your best friend.
You should know that doctor callery is the one who picks you as a canidate for his surgery, he wants your sucess rate to be 2000%, he stresses your aftercare to be completely stress free by following his instructions to a tee.
He does however, inforce that this is a tool to wieght loss not a cure and it must be well understood that you have to be fully aware of the consqueces before makeing such an evasive decision.
The thing I like most about him is that, he is not just a doctor who does this for money, he is in it for life, he is doing a complete research study on the surgery.
If you become a patient of his you will be one for life!
