California Bariatric and General Surgery Associates Bariatric Center
Very tall was my first impression. He did a great job explaining ever aspect about pre and post surgury. He answered most of my questions before I had a chance to ask them. He is very professional and emphasized pre and post care. So far I would rate him an A.
Dr. LaMar was very friendly and informative. His office staff was helpful and kind. I was impressed by all of them.
Dr. Troy Lamar is an excellent surgeon. He is very skilled in his field and has a great bedside manner. He is superman!!!
Dr. Lamar is a wonderful, competent man & my new hero. He made me feel at ease right from the first moment I met him. His staff is very knowledgeable & extremely sensitive to the needs of MO people. He gave me all of the risks & benefits in a clear manner that didn't scare me but let me know what was going on. He is my new hero.
When I entered the office of Dr. Troy Lamar for the very first time, I felt very comfortable. The nurses at the front desk had beautiful welcoming smiles and well informed answers to all of my questions.
My waiting time to meet Dr. Troy Lamar was minimal, as well as the forms that I needed to fill out.
My first impression of Dr. Lamar was positive. He greeted me with a smile and explained everything about the operation in detail. He used visuals, like diagrams to further explain the internal reconstruction of the stomach. He took his time to explain each step of the operation and mentioned some of the after effects of the procedure.
Dr.Troy Lamar is a very personable man, shows compassion, warmth and also mixes his work with lots of humor.
Well, after visiting Dr Clayton and setting a surgery date, I was informed by insurance that I needed to see another doctor. Apparently, Dr. Clayton is not covered on my insurance, so I have to start the whole proceedure over again with a different doctor. I am very frustrated, but more determined than ever!
I am scheduled to meet with Dr. LaMar on April, 8. I hope all goes well!
Dr. LaMar was open and honest about the benefits of the surgery, the amount of weight I can realistically expect to lose, and the possible complications. I'm not the type of person who needs a sugary bedside manner, surgical competence and honest, straight forward information is what's most important. The office staff was pleasant and I really appreiated not being kept waiting. The aftercare program appears to be very structured and easy to follow. I guess I'll see just how easy (or difficult) after surgery.
My first impression was physical- he is very tall, soft spoken, very young. As a nurse, I had the gut feeling that he would never throw an instrument in the OR (important for me).
Dr. LaMar was very throrough in explaining the risks/benefits of surgery; he answered my many questions ... didn't even flinch when I pulled out my list of questions & was very nice when I disclosed a history of vicodin addition & had concerns about post-op pain control. We were able to come to an agreement about pain control .... again, very important for me.
My initial impression of niceness remained.
I managed to squeeze my initial appointment in (I had only a 2 wk wait before seeing him), so I hadn't attended the seminar. The office staff set clear boundries that certain things were expected before I could have my surgery scheduled, even if my insurance approved. They let me schedule my own pre-op tests, which gave me a feeling of control. But again, I have the clear understanding that all items on the list must be completed.
He does have a support group w/ lots of people in all stages from those just exploring the possibility to those 3+ yrs out.
I would vote him as excellent.
Prior to seeing him, I called several people I know who work w/ him in the OR & he is somebody that they would themselves go to or send a family member to ... very high praise in my book.
So..... surgical competence & bedside manner are both great.
My first impression was that he was warm and kind. He made me feel like he knew what I was going through. His office staff are the best. I know them personally and that is why I chose to have him do my surgery. Nicole will answer any questions you have. She knows how you feel, she had the surgery herself in march/99.
They have a specific aftercare program to follow and are always ready to help. On a scale of 1~10...definatly a 15.
