BetterLife Bariatrics Bariatric Center
Well, now Dr. McDaniel and group have to endure a hug every time I see them. I am just so grateful for this life changing surgery and for the expertise of everyone involved. I would highly recommend Dr. McDaniel to anyone considering bariatric surgery. On my first visit, I was so excited as I had HOPE for the first time in decades that I could be healthy again. I could tell Dr. McDaniel was knowledgeable and he and Ron his PA made sure I understood not only what was done surgically during the RNY, but also that this surgery is a tool, behavior modification and exercise would be necessary for success, and that there are risks. What really hit me was how passionate Dr. McDaniel is about what this surgery is capable of doing for the morbidly obese. He is also compassionate, as is everyone I have met in his group. Ron is one of the kindest people I've ever met and Jennifer, his nurse has always responded quickly and with a smile with any medical questions I have had. Ann and Veronica were professional, diligent, and kind and everyone in the office I have met have always been friendly in person and over the phone. Phone calls and emails are returned promptly if the person you need to speak to is not immediately available. The anesthesiologist and OR nurse I met were terrific also. These folks care. They care about you pre surgery and they care about you post op. I only wish that I could fully participate in their aftercare program, but I live 15 hours away! (yes, the drive and/or flights are worth it!) Even if you live several hours away from Victoria, Texas, you should, IMO, check on the excellent program at Citizens Bariatric Center, Crossroads Surgical Group, and Dr. McDaniel. A million thanks to Dr. McDaniel and all! I will be forever grateful!
Dr. McDaniel is a physician with great talent, and has helped in changing my life for the better. Jennifer; Dr. McDaniel's nurse, is wonderful with the maintenance check-ups, and is friendly. Dr. McDaniel cares about what is going on with you far after the surgery. Still, he's not going to bug you about coming in for a check-up. Maybe, just a friendly reminder if an appointment has been made. Dr. McDaniel has a wonderful Physician's Assistant named Ron that is equally friendly as his nurse. Ron gives detailed information to pre-surgery patients re: risks of surgery. He's also there to help you prepare emotionally for this new experience. I rate my experience with Dr. McDaniel and his staff a #10. I believe that surgical competence is better than bedside manner. But, if you can have both from your physician that's a plus!
My first impression of Dr. McDaniel: "He's so young". He is approachable and willing to answer your questions in terms patients can understand. His staff is compentent in their areas of responsibility. The office is comfortably equiped for large size patients. His surgical competence and bedside manner is great. He emphasied using my primary care physician for other health issues not related to the weight loss surgery which I found to be of great value since he cannot be an expert at all things and acknowdleges his patients needs to include their primary care providers in his circle of care. I would recommend that he advise his patients to seek after surgery nutritional counseling sometime after the six week aftercare visit with him. It definitely was of great benefit to me to have the one on one visit with a nutrition in addition to the one size fit all pre surgery nutritional session. I would and have told others to use his care.
Dr McDaniel was wonderful, smart and kind. He seems to care about me even more now since the surgery. Everyone there in his office is wonderful and polite. Liked everythig. That he is a wonderful person. And he cares a great deal about his patients no matter how long you've been a patient of his.
He went over all of the risks associated on the surgery, before and after. Answered all my questions without seeming like he was in a hurry at all. I would give him an 11 on a scale from 1-10. Both are great. I have recommended at least 3 of my friends to him and have all had surgery w/him. All are happy with Dr. McDaniel.
I met Dr. McDaniel at a seminar that his office held on 1/27 in Corpus. I was hoping he would be there and he was. I got to talk to him briefly was very glad I did because he is very intelligent and and caring in laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery. The staff that I got to meet at the seminar were exetremely friendly and more than willing to answer and help me in any way. I do have an appointment set up with for 3/31 for my first visit. I went for my first visit and I have to say that Dr. McDaniel and his staff are great, wonderful, awesome and outstanding. Both Scott and I are more calm and okay with the surgery now than before. Dr. McDaniel took his time answering any questions we had and made us feel very comfortable with the surgery. Ron is just so sweet. The girls in the office are just as awesome.
My first impression of Dr. McDaniel was good. I had 2 visits with him before my surgery so I diden't get to know him real well. During my surgery and Hospital stay my impression of him went from good to Great. The more I see him and get to know him the better it gets. I now think he is FANTASTIC! His office staff is great. Very friendly and helpful. They make you feel very comfortable. If I had to pick something that I diden't like it would be that I only got to see him 2 times before my surgery and diden't get to know him very well. However, I researched this a year before I decided to get it done and heard nothing but fabulous things about him and his staff so I felt like I had know him a long time. Aftercare is a big part of his program. They have a structured aftercare program and I recommend that is is followed. The risks of the surgery were discussed at all my pre-op visits and the day of surgery. I would rate Dr McDaniel A+++! His surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful. HE IS THE GREATEST. I have come to conclude that the people who have problems are the people who do not follow the aftercare program. It must be followed very strictly for at least 6 to 8 weeks.
