If you want unperformed bariatric surgery, this is the doctor for you!

I wish I never met this surgeon! I had , (or supposedly had), vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery about a year ago. I never had hardly any reduction in appetite or capacity at all. I have expressed this the times I have been to the office only to be blew off and told I am losing plenty of weight and eat more to feel full. I was sent for an upper Gi and endoscopy later only to be told everything is fine. Good luck finding any other doctors to get a second opinion. After several months, I finally got another bariatric surgeon to look at the upper gi and I was told this "sleeve" was severely distended and not well crafted. Not like I didn't already know that. I also was told by this same surgeon I could get a revision with them but I would have to gain about 50 pounds first. I lost around 90 lbs before surgery during the 6 month physician supervised diet and quite a bit more post op, but by starving and living on my fitness pal. Even right upon leaving the hospital, I never had restriction. I didn't have weight loss surgery to starve and be able to eat a footlong sub to get full. Capacity is supposed to be 1/2 cup to 6 oz. It takes around 3 cups to even kill the feeling of starvation and then around 1/2 hour later, I am starving to death again. Most sleeve patients I watch on Youtube eat around 4 oz of chicken and are full. I had right at 14 oz of grilled chicken plus a can of chicken noodle soup for dinner and still was hungry. Last time I saw this "doctor" I wanted answers about this issue to be told if I gain the weight back in 2 years we can always resleeve or convert to rny. then I was told, "I've gotta go!" My family was given a snapshot of the abdomen taken during surgery. I am no doctor, but I can see the staple line and bougie. There is enough room for at least 3 more bougies inside this "sleeve". Evidently, I was intentionally operated on badly to set up for repeat business. Really watch who you have do this surgery. After all, they are in business to make money. Now I either have the choice to starve to death and stay around a healthy weight or eat 5000 calories a day to fill up and gain everything right back. I really urge anybody NOT to use this doctor!

Dr. Geller is the best doctor ever! He is very kind and patient and never neglects to answer your calls or questions. A great doctor and a good man in general.

Dr. Geller did a revision to the Lap Band on me in 2007. I had the Gastric Bypass in 2002 and started gaining weight back so decided to have a revision. I am very pleased with his bedside manner. With his help I have reached the WLS goal of losing 75% of my excess weight.
I'd still like to get to that "magic number" but I am sooooo happy with how I look and feel right now. I still see Dr. Geller a couple times a year for a "fill" and that helps keep me on track.
If you're looking for a caring, smart, experienced surgeon, Call Dr. Geller, he'll take good care of you.

Well, I must say that I am Dr. Gellers first. The first person he revised from the RNY to the lap band. He said once he trimmed away some scar tissue, placing the band was just like placing it on someone who hasn't had previous weight loss surgery. He used a bigger band to accomodate the scar tissue, but all went well. rnThank you Dr. Geller, for your expertise, your excellent bedside manner, and your wonderful caring staff. I am sooooo happy!!! rnUpdate 2009-I'm still under the care of Dr. Geller and I still think he's the best. He is very thorough and spends time answering questions and giving advice. He takes very good care of me.

I am very happy I chose Dr. Geller. He and his staff are extremely helpful and very personable. I have had many issues with my band but Dr. Geller keeps working with me to find solutions to any problems I face. His Staff is very considerate and friendly. Since having my surgery I have referred 2 of my sisters who have had their surgery, a friend who had her surgery and two other friends who are a husband/wife team that Dr. Geller will be performing their surgery in April and May of 2011. Thank you Dr. Geller for your patience, care and understanding.

Dr Geller was very good at explaining the surgery and was personable. They claimed to have an after care program but truely I can't see that they had much of one. I had complications from the surgery. I got MRSA and needed wound care for 4 1/2 months after surgery, once this happened I was pretty much abandoned by Dr Geller. He rarely returned a phone call and I felt like I was left to deal with the aftermath of the surgery by myself.

I had my surgery, outpatient, with Dr. Geller. I was caught up in the middle of the BCBS/Norton insurance debacle in July/August, 2009 so had to have my surgery at Dupont Surgery Center. They were amazing!!! I am so glad I went there! Dr. Geller was great. I recently had to get my band unfilled and then refilled. He is very friendly and speaks to you as a person. He repeats the same thing over and over again because those are the facts of how to use the band - which I like because it reminds me everytime. He wants you to succeed. His staff - Pam and Celisse are great! They are cool and very, very accommodating. Celisse definitely knows how to make you feel guilty about not doing what is right - which is a good reminder of why you had the surgery. She does it in such a cool smooth way - she doesn't even say anything - but you know that is what she is thinking. Dr. Geller knows its a battle every day. Whether you are up or down, they are supporting you. They don't expect you to be perfect - but they expect the lapband to be used as a tool. You still have to defeat your own demons. They always are busy but they always fit me in when they can. No hidden fees...no bull....just do what you are supposed to do and it will work. I highly recommend Dr. Geller.
