Dr. Blaney made sure I was very informed and he made me feel special and I never feared the surgery since he was taking care of me. He is very honest and he will make sure that you understand the pros and cons of surgery. He has a wonderful preop program and encourages participation in the support group locally. I would highly recommend Dr. Blaney if you are considering wls.

Just met Dr. Blaney a week or so ago. He is a terrific doctor. He is caring and gives you all the details and information you need to make an informed decision. He and I are currently working on getting my insurance to allow me to have lap band surgery. I hope we can get them to accept the medical necessity of having this done. If you live in the CSRA, Dr. Blaney is the doctor I would recommend. I will add more later when I actually get to the point of having the surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Glass was that he knew what he was doing and he had a sense of humor. I liked that since I knew I would feel comfortable asking him any questions. I did ask him what his fatality rate was on our first meeting and he did not duck the question. One patient died of blood clots related to the surgery. I asked him his rate of leakage and it was around l %. I had the feeling that he would do anything he could to make sure his odds were in the favor of his patient. I felt he was very thorough in his explanation of the risks of surgery, but he also presented the possitive aspects, such as less chances for diabetes, less chance for high blood pressure and in general, better health. My insurance changed in the midst of the proceedure and I learned Dr. Glass is not a primary provider for Health Partners and will not be considered until he has completed 5 years of bariatric surgery. He is one year away, but I also noticed he has done more surgeries than some of the doctors who have made the mandated 5 year's required by Health Partners. During this insurance mess, Dr. Glass and his staff have been committed to helping me receive my surgery before my insurance change. rn I guess the one thing I would like from Dr. Glass's office is a structured approach to what time I drink my protein and liquids on an hourly basis. I also would like more nutritional information on protein drinks and after care diet. Maybe I will get this information after surgery. I have found that there are a variety of protein drinks on the market that are higher in Protein and fiber than the recommended Slim fast and Boost. I am one of those people who likes to read labels and I would like to know exactly how much protein I am looking for, how much sugar, how much, fat, fiber etc. I know that drinks that have 7 gr of Fiber are much more filling for the 2 week liquid fast before surgery. I know I can always email his Nutritionist and she will give me this information, but I would like it included in the packet they give out.rn I can not give information on the surgery at this date since I am still pre-op but the care I have been given so far has been excellent. PJrnrnMy second, 3rd and 4th impressions of DR. GlassrnrnI was scheduled for surgery on Sept. 29th of 2006. A few hours before the surgery, surgery was canceled because they saw a suspicious shadow near my heart. Dr. Glass called me before anyone else and dealt with the problem head on. He suggested I go see his partner, Dr. Oaks at Abbot and have a CAT scan. I did, and was extremely impressed by Dr. Oaks who kept me calm and helped me make the best non-invasive surgery decisions. Dr Glass was kept informed at all times. My insurance also changed during this time and normally Dr. Glass could not see me since I now belonged to Health Partners. He and Dr. Oaks and his office continued to keep me informed. I eventually had around 5 CT's and a PET scan. When the St. Cloud hospital could not get me in right away for a preliminary surgery to find out if the tumors I had were cancerous, Dr. Oaks made personal calls to the U of M, where I was admitted. I had surgery in Nov. at the U and the found what they thought was lymphoma was actually a \"fungus tumor\". Once More, Dr. glass and Dr. Oaks were there for follow ups, and as soon as I was cleared by the U, my bariatric surgery was scheduled.rn I was extremely pleased with Dr. Glass after my surgery as well. After surgery, he stopped by to see me on the way to a vacation with his children. Dr. Oaks also stopped in and it was very clear that he did not mind if I called him at any time during the weekend, should I have any problems. St. Cloud is very lucky to have such capable and caring Doctors. rn This review asks if I have anything negative to say. I can not say one bad thing about, Abbot's staff, Dr. Oaks or Dr. Glass. It is my impression though that The St. Cloud hospital does need to work on some major problems they are having with some staff members on the weekends.rn I have also felt that there needs to be work done on behalf of patients with Insurance billing. I am lucky in that I have a husband who was a chief investigator dealing with insurance fraud for the Dept. of Commerce. He has handled all my bills and without him we would have been over paying many items. Luckily, he checks the DOB's and the usual and customary charges, and calls when he finds we are being billed hundreds of dollars more than we should be. Each time the situation is resolved, but I feel that the average patient does not even understand how the billing works, and this seems unfair. PJ from waite Parkrn Pj from waite park

My name is Karen Sanders and Dr. Blaney saved my life. I was sinking in a puddle of fatness, and he rescued me. The very first impression that I had of him was that he is pretty easy on the eyes. However, after my first consultation with him, I realized that he is a doctor with a great deal of compassion for his patients. He is genuine and honest with how he believes you will do with the surgery. The more I went back to see him and discuss gastric bypass surgery, the more I came to respect him as a surgeon. My case is a little unusual because several years ago I had surgery to repair a hole in the top of my esophagus. (Nissen Surgery.) Dr. Blaney had to reverse that surgery, repair a large hernia, and then do the gastric bypass. Believe it or not, he was able to do all of this laparoscopic. I am now 1-month post op, 30 pounds lighter, and Dr. Blaney has continued to give 100% of his devotion to me whenever I am in the office, or when I call him. I do not think that my words have really done him justice. He is a fine surgeon, and a compassionate gentleman. I would recommend him to anyone who is considering any type of weight loss surgery.rnrnKaren Sandersrn

Dr. Blaney is the BEST!!! He has WONDERFUL bedside manners. Dr. Blaney just makes you feel at ease. He doesn't make you feel disgusting for your weight. He is truly there to help you and not judge you. I have met a lot of doctors that judge you by the way you look and Dr. Blaney DOES NOT DO THIS! He is the GREATEST! He makes sure you fully understand all the aspects of the surgery before going through with it. Dr. Blaney has models to show you exactly what is going to occur while in the operating room. He is very knowledge about the many different weight loss surgeries that can be performed. He then will discuss what surgery he thinks is right for you. Dr. Blaney wants your whole family involved from the beginning to the end. He always knows you and your family by name when going into the office even after several months between visits. When you go in for a check up he pays extra special attention to you and makes sure to answers all your questions and concerns. If you ever have a question you can just give him a call. It may take a little time for him to respond, but when he does he gives you his full attention. I would recommend Dr. Blaney to anyone who is going to have the surgery. Keep up the excellent work Dr. Blaney!!!!!!

Dr Blaney did a gastric bypass surgery on me in Eisenhower hospital augusta ga march 1, 1999.rnrnIt mistates in his profile that he has been doing wls for 3 years. I assume that is after his retirement from military because he did excellent bariatric and wls in the military as far back as 1999, i know for sure... and in 1999 and later at ft. Benning Ga he was considering his future in this type of surgery because we discussed it. I asked him to please consider it after his stint in the military.rnI am both relieved, happy and jealous of all his present patients because I know what a kind, thorough and meticulous surgeon he is.rnrnIn addressing the risks of this surgery, for me at the time, as well as for him, we were totally dependant on the military medical constrictions and I believe those constrictions, at least at that time, were not totally correct for individualization for the weight and situations for each patient. /You do it their way exactly, which may be the same way you do it for a 300 lb person as a 450 lb person. as we know now, that is incorrect. Each person is different and may need a different type or structure of their surgery.rnrnThats why I am soooo pleased he is in private practice because I know this man treats each person as an individual, they don't fall into a clump of morbidly obese.rnrnHe is exactly where he should be and i believe anyone who is lucky enough to have him as their surgeon now can feel total security and safety with this man. And though I have not seen him since he went into private practice I know he bases his values and guidelines on a one to one basis of individuality for each of his patients. he is no longer constrained by the restrictions of the Military Medical. rnrnlinda blackwellrnformerly Linda Ouimettern100% positive

Dr Glass is polite, professional, concerned, and straight forward with everything. Office staff is wonderful and willing to go the extra mile. I haven't found anything to dislike yet. Future patients should know that he is the only laproscopic gastric bypass surgeon in St. Cloud at this time, and that all others are open procedure. He has a very structured post op Program for the first year, and a fabulous local support group with professional speakers. Dr Glass gives you all the good, the bad, and the ugly having to do with this type surgery. rnrnI'm only 3 days post op writing this, I think that speaks mountains! Thank you Dr. Glass!rn10/24/06 I'm a week post op and feeling great, I would recommend Dr. Glass to anyone, there is a real skill and concern with this man and all of those connected with Central Minnesota Surgeons.

I've met with Dr. Glass once so far and have my final pre-surgery appointment with him on August 15th!!! He is extremely kind, patient, answers all your questions and treats you like a person. He doesn't sugar coat anything, he tells you like it is. Everyone in his office is so wonderful and helpful. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering WLS. I am now post op and Dr. Glass is wonderful. He is encouraging and when you call cuz something doesn't \"feel\" right he listens and takes you seriously. He is a very competent surgeon and has a wonderful bedside manner. I am so happy that I chose to go with Dr. Glass.
