My first impression of Dr. Blaney was that he was professional and had bedside manners. He took time to explain the procedure and his staff is excellent. He went over the aftercare and gave me encouragement on how much weight I was expected to lose. Future patients should know that so far he has proven his ability to be a caring physician.

2/2510: I had my first consultation with Dr. Blaney today and I feel confident with my decision to have wls. I felt comfortable even though I'm not a big talker. I really like the fact that he discuss the good and bad of wls and how your eating and exercise affect the amount of weight you lose. What I liked more about his practice versus Dr. Duncan is that Dr. Blaney and his staff are more personable. I feel comfortable with that and knowing that the team at the center is so encouraging lets me know that I can do this. He also likes his patients to read this book call Weightless surgery For Dummies.
7/17/10 3 months post op..I still have no regrets waiting so glad I did.

My first impression of Dr. Blaney was awesome. Very laid back and very easy to talk to and went over everything in detail. We talked for over 40 minutes. I have never been to a doctor that was so easy to talk to and not in a hurry. I had filled out a medical overview with weight information before my visit. He went over that and figured out that I had portion control issues and drank alot of my calories and said he thought I would be great candidate for weightloss surgery since the majority of ot is portion control. My impression of him has gotten even better with every visit. He is real & down to earth. I can't think of one thing that I dislike about him at all. Future patients should be ready for a very laid back Dr. that wears blue jeans every chance he gets. He strongly emphasizes after care and stresses the importance of post surgery seminar attendance. I am just starting the aftercare program and have found it to be very well structured. Dr. B. went over in detail all of the surgical risks as well as gives you all the information to read. The offic estaff is very knowledgeable and very helpful. They are very busy but get back to quickly if you have to leave a voicemail. I would rate him as a 10 all the way. He is very knowledgeable with the surgery and his bedside manner rocks!

D.Blaney is a great Dr. He will not let you have the surgery if he didn't think you needed it

I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Blaney. He was informative, patient and understanding. He did not push one procedure over another, but gave you the plus and negatives of each and helped you decide which may be the most beneficial to you long term. His staff is excellent and supportive. And not once have I felt rushed to leave his office or did he ever blow off any questions I have had.

Alot of people treat those of us with weight problems like a burden. Even medical professionals. It seems like the bigger we got the less of a person we were. Not in his office. I have never felt patronized or insignificant there. Always treated with respect and dignity. And I trust Dr. Blaney and his staff. THAT'S saying alot.

Depending on what time of day I weigh in, I have lost nearly 100 pounds since my surgery in January.

Right on Dr. Blaney

Before my first visit several doctors recommended Dr. Blaney saying they knew many of his patients and that they were very pleased. On my first visit to meet with Dr. Blaney, he was in no rush telling my husband and I about my options, answering all questions. He was very concerned that I had all the information I needed to make an informed decision. My next step was the workshop where Dr. Blaney takes his entire Sat. and devotes it to his patients and in depth show & explains all surgeries possible. He goes over the Positive and the negitives of all the surgeries not pushing one or the other. Saying that different people having different needs will know which surgery they will want before it is time. His office is set up so that there is twice a month support groups, in house dietion to ask questions whenever we need. (She is on our Yahoo support group which is really nice) He also has an in house Therapist offering extra group help for those who would like to have it. So I would reccomend Dr. Blaney to anyone who ask.

How did my impression of him change over time? Love him more and more every day. I have never met a kinder, more supportive MD. He takes the time you need so you can succeed. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.

Six months post op he is just as caring and concerned about your issues. Always willing to listen. Like that he has the nutritionist at each visit now. That is a great addition. Now at 15 months post op and I love him more and more everyday. They don't get better than Dr. Blaney and Dr. Chasen.

New rating: 11 on a scale of 1-10.

First impressions: Wonderful, easygoing, believes he is making a difference

Office Staff: wonderful, receptive, caring, friendly

Did he emphasize aftercare: over and over again. I was quite impressed by the education I received prior to getting a surgery date. Met with him twice already for an individual session and then a group session. Group session was 4 hours on a saturday where he not only described the surgeries but showed video of each and explained each step and answered questions. Not one person can say they did not get informed consent. He also discussed risks of surgery to include death and his rates of these risks. 15 months after surgery attended a reeducation seminar called LEAP.

Like least: Nothing. I like everything about him and his staff.

Overall rating: Excellent, 11 on a scale of 1-10
