What was your first impression of him? I think he is wonderful and very understanding

How would you describe his/her office staff?
all of them are very helpful.

I'm very glad I'm having surgery with Dr. Newhoff I trust him with my life.

This is MY opinion only: I like him! He's tough, but caring. He knows what he's doing. He stood up, shook my hand and answered all my questions. He said that he can fix my VBG, but I'm going to one of his gastric bypass seminars October 25th. I'm definitely going with him.

November 19th--I have been approved and scheduled for a gastric bypass! I'll be on the losing side December 11th! Yippee!!! To GOD be ALL the Glory!

I felt very confident with Dr. Newhoff. I wasn't worried at all. After surgery and every day I was in the hospital he came to visit and sat down to chat. He was very encouraging. But I found out that you MUST do everything he tells you to do. I admitted I didn't have my protein drink and I got "in trouble". Needless to say I went right out and got some. His office staff is very good and Weight For Life and his office took care of the insurance(United Healthcare). I haven't had to deal with that at all. There is a long wait to get surgery done. I filled out paperwork in Feb 2001,insurance approved May 2001 but I didn't get surgery until Oct 22,2001.

Dr. Alan Newhoff seems to be a very competent surgeon, having performed over 3,000 Roux-en-Y operations at this point. He is very personable, seems to have a great sense of humor, but is also direct and no nonsense. He believes that you are investing a great deal of time and money to be successful and he expects you to follow his instructions. If you are not committed to this process, don't have the surgery.

He offers lots of suggestions both dietarily and otherwise to help you in your journey. I think I am going to like him very much

His office staff is very efficient and friendly. They are very helpful and seem to be prompt in answering questions or providing assistance when needed or requested.

Dr. Newhoff has an aftercare program conducted by Weight For Life with psychologists that seems to be effective. It is conducted in a group setting and the group is spit for those preop to 3 months postop, and those who are more than 3 months postop.

Dr. Newhoff gave statistics nationally for the procedure and its complications as well as his own statistics for morbidity and mortality and in each instance he is below the national average with respect to complications and in some instances is dramatically below the national average.

I can't speak to his bedside manner and surgical competence yet, but I believe they will both be superior.

My first impression of Dr. Newhoff was good. I liked his no nonsense attitude. He was very thorough, answered most of my questions before I was able to ask them. I liked his office staff. Will know more as the process continues. He is confident and experienced, which did alot to calm some of my fears regarding the possibility of post-op complications.////Followup-2/20/01- I take back all the nice things I might have said about Dr Newhoff. I have had some complications & he has basically been indifferent to my problems. He argued with me when I told him I was in pain & vomiting all the time. He said that I couldn't be in pain & that I would be "just fine." I tried countless times to contact his office with some advice on what to do to alleviate these symptoms. He simply had his staff refer me to a gastroenterologist. He didn't want to do anything to help me. These are my personal experiences with Dr Newhoff. Needless to say I cannot recommend him to anyone////9/14/01---I have finally gotten Dr Newhoff to do a revision surgery on me!!!!Praise the Lord!!!He is removing the ring, will dilate the opening so that I can eat solid food again. I am so very grateful that he finally takes my problem seriously & will help me! In the final analysis, I recommend Dr Newhoff, but I also question the ring that he uses. It has been nothing but a source of agony for me. He is a competent surgeon & I feel that I am in good hands with him.///10/19/01...I am doing GRREAT!!!!Dr Newhoff has been wonderful & I am back to eating normally, no more vomiting! I am very pleased with Dr newhoff; he saved my life!

Dr Newhoff doesn't mess around or candy coat his message, I really appreciated his honesty. He lets you know up front that the patient is ultimately responsible for the success. His office staff was kind and helpful. I appreciated his frankness the most. He has a wonderful reputation and has never lost a patient in the 3000+ that he's done the gastric bypass on. Future patients should know he wont operate if you are a smoker or if you don't wear a seat belt. Because if you don't care about living, why should he help you? He suggested I attend the support group meetings, which I have just because it's required at first, but I continue going because I learn something new and interesting each meeting. Dr Newhoff presented the stats on complications, I feel I made and informed decision. I would rate him a 9 out of 10 so far... of course that might change after my surgery. Surgical comptetence is without a doubt the most important part of chosing a surgeon.

I went in for a group consultation in his waiting room. He is VERY knowledgeable and immediately made me very confident in his abilities. He was extremely frank about the surgery and the after-effects. I'm confident, now, about having the surgery where before I was pretty scared. He is adamant that the surgery is a tool to help with weight loss, not the answer, and that it's possible to "work around" the surgery so that you don't lose the weight. He talked, in detail, about some of the less than successful surgery patients and made sure that we understand the risks. All in all I came away from the consultation with a renewed sense of determination that this is my best option. I recommend Dr. Newhoff for anyone needing information. I'll let you know more as I progress through the program.

First Impression of Dr. Newhoff. that he was rushed,. Just finished a trauma op the night before and was on his way to another one. I feel he will tell you like it is. even if you r feelings get hurt. He will not jerk you around like others. Office staff have been very helpful and pleasant regardless of the number of times you bug them.

I've only seen him once, but he seemed quite professional and honestly seemed to care about helping people. His office staff are very efficient and always ready to help give an answer.

Probably the only thing I don't like about him is that my first appointment with him is 2 days prior to my surgery. I would have liked to know him a little before that.

There is an aftercare program and his emphasises that the outcome is up to the patient; the harder I work, the better it will be.

My first impression of Dr.Newhoff was a good one. He knew what he was talking about. No. His office staff is very nice and very helpfull.I really can't tell when he is serious sometimes or if he is just jokeing around.I think that future patients should know that he is very to the point and he will tell you how it is. He is very open and honest. He doesn't beat around the bush. He emphasize's aftercare alot.yes he does. Yes he did and he is very open about it. So far I think her rates a high 10. I think that both are very important for this kind of treatment.
