Well I started my journey thinking I would have Dr. McCarty as my surgeon, but that has all changed. Because of different circumstances, I will be switching from McCarty to Dr. Alexander. I've not met him face to face yet but his office staff is awfully friendly and very helpful...you never the sense that you're bugging them if you call with a question. (read between those lines).

I have a consult date of July 2. Ta Ta for now !

My first impression of the doc was that he really cared about his patients and really wants them to be imformed about the surgery. He knew I lived 2 hours away so he had his staff scedule my stress test and all the other test on the same day. He was wonderful and I'm so glad he's doing my surgery. His staff was also great. He did not emphasize aftercare but I think there is a support group.I rate the doc with a 10 so far. Will write more after I get my date.

Even though I had to wait two hours to see Dr. Alexander, I was extremely impressed upon meeting him. He is a very knowledgable individual who obviously cares a great deal about this patients. He explained the entire procedure to me so I understood everything that would happed. He very patiently listened when I told him that I wanted the surgery very badly, but was also very scared about it. I have had five other major surgeries in my adult life - acutally in the last seven years - so I know what to expect initially - and it's not on my top 10 things to do. But nothing else has worked for me and Dr. Alexdander understood when I tried my best to express my feelings. He was also very compationate when I told him that in addition to being very afraid of the anesthesia, I lost my father in 1995 after he developed a staph infection after minor, routine surgery because the staff never caught on that something was wrong, even though we kept telling me there was. His doctor had gone on vacation the day after my father's surgery (which we found out after my father died) and didn't see him again until it was too late for my father. Dr. Alexander soothed my tears and told me that this operation is very safe, if he performs it. Dr. Alexander has NEVER HAD A DEATH either from the surgery or any complications stemming from the surgery. I was hooked on Dr. Alexander.

The office staff is outstanding. They are friendly, knowledgable and kind. They made sure we were all comfortable while we were waiting. There were three women there who had all had their surgery around three weeks previously - they could not say enough good about Dr. Alexander. While I have not yet had my surgery and do not know first hand, Dr. Alexander does have a very structured aftercare. His nursing staff and the articles he has in his office places a lot of emphasis on this care. Follow up visits are mandatory and his staff follows up with you to make sure you are following procedures and are having no problems.

As far as surgical competence vs. bedside manner - Dr. Alexander has both!!!!!!

The only "negative" I have found so far is that apparently there is always at least a two hour wait to get in to see Dr. Alexdander...and you can't go in, sign in and come back later because if he isn't running behind and you are called, you lose your appointment for the day. The ladies there were prepared for the wait - they brought books, knitting and other things to pass the time. So - GO PREPARED.

Dr. Alexander was very caring and thoughtful. We discussed medical issues and the weather the surgery was right for me. He was very professional and seemed to sincerely care about people. The fact that I was gay and adopted a child made no difference to him. He was very supportive and understanding. I immediately felt comfortable with him and confident in his medical abilities. We both agreed after a lengthy discussion that this would be the healthy move for me. His office staff were professional and polite. I look forward to continuing with the plans of having the surgery in July. I only wish I could have the surgery tomorrow!!

It has been two years since my surgery and I am still feeling great thanks to Dr. A but I must admit that I am very disappointed with the follow up care that I did not receive because he was not with my insurance this past year. I was due a scar revision that I was promised( by dr A) to be done along with a belly button reconstruction due to the way Dr. A. closed me when he did my abdominalplasty. I am sure I could get my insurance to cover him for that was what I did for him when I worked for him but after three surgeons (which will not even think to repair this because of what has been done) and a plastic surgeon, I finally found a plastic surgeon who will repair everything. the doggie ears that I acquired after the abdominalplasty, which I am sure you all know what they are
the belly button reconstruction and scar revision with a revised tummy tuck. All paid for because of this being considered a surgical follow up. I can say Thank You to Dr. A for giving me the start to a new life but I must especially thank Dr. Tittle (PS) for taking on the challenge of repairing all the damage that I have acquired. Anyway, I have gone from a size 4 back to a size 6 and do not feel so skinny. I was letting this weight thing get to me and scared I was going to get fat again to where I was looking sickly, so I ate some french fries (per Dr. A's request) and it helped me to look healthier. I think I may go to a size 8 also for this size still may be too small, we will see. Will post some new photos as soon as possible.

I have been patient of Dr. John Alexanders since November 1999 when I came across his ad in Dallas Womens Magazine. I am now currently employed with Dr. John Alexander as his Insurance Specialist as of November 2000, so for the sake of new comers I would just like to say one thing. I would have not quit my job with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas( losing benefits, paid vacations, stability etc.) had I not thought Dr. John H. Alexander was not a good surgeon out to please his patients which makes me even more happy that I finally, after three broken appointments, made the consultation visit to his office.

03-19-01 I would like to add that since my surgery in May 2000, I have lost over 100lbs, had tummy tuck five months after Gastric Bypass, which my insurance covered, and four months after tummy tuck, had my thighs done which insurance also covered. Please do not hesitate to make your dreams a reality...it can be done. Check out before and after pictures I have added if you have doubts that it can happen.

Just wanted to say today is my one year anniversary of my surgery and all is well, I am healthy and wearing a nice size 6 ( which appear to be baggy on me) in Levi jeans.

just thought that I would add that I am now down to a size 4 and a happy 127-132 lbs. he does the RNY unlike any other surgeon.

Just updating that this is final day as employee with Dr. Alexander. He is still a great surgeon. I am almost 18 months post op and feel great. Down to 123-127 and am having no problems at all. Would like you all to know that I am no longer with Dr. Alexander so that you may forward your questions regarding your status and such to the office.

I met with Dr. John Alexander on January 24th, 2002. Dr. Alexander is a very pleasant Dr. w/ out the Dr. attitude. He went into detail about the different procedures and answered all my questions. His staff is very pleasant as well. (as I get to know names, I will use them) Dr. Alexander was very positive about the procedure. I received my letter that went to the ins. company Saturday. The letter was very well put together. I recommend Dr. Alexander 100%. One of Dr. Alexander’s "success" stories was in the waiting room and she enhanced my opinion of Dr. Alexander. The only negative thing is the exam room was a little chilly. Other than that, I am good to go.

Lynn at Dr. A's office has been extreeeemmmmmlllyyyy helpful through this process. Lynn, you are D' bomb!!!! I just hope we are able to get a hospital due to Pacificare.

Dr. Alexander does an excelent job at the surgery, but I will have to admit, he is (in my opion) not a patient friendly Dr. I would do it all over again with him, but I think I am going to put some information together for his office to give out for post-op information.

My first impression of him was great. He really seemed to care about the questions that I had but answered them all before I asked them. His staff is great! Sabrina has been wonderful. There was really nothing I did not like about Dr.A. He even offered to talk with my Mom because she was not able to be at my first meeting. He told me to tell her to call him and he would be happy to answer any questions she has. I have talked with a lot of people and Dr. A is a great surgeon. I will have my surgery in one week and I can't wait. His office got all of this done with in a month. I called July 7 (the day I decided to do this) and my surgery is August 9th. Pretty fast I'd say. I went in for my EGD the other day and Dr. A and staff at the hospital were just great! He told me how wonderful I was doing and made me feel like I was in great hands. The next day my throat hurt and I thought I may be getting strep. I called after hours and less then a minute had passed and he returned my page. That really made me feel like he is there for me and concerned about my needs. I would give him an A+++++++ so far. Thanks Dr. A and I pray I get the results I am looking for but I have total faith in you. *** Well, I had my surgery and it went okay. I hated every minute of it. It hurt way more then what I thought it would. I was thinking how stupid I was to have this done. Now I am 9 days post op and feeling better every day. I will feel real good once I get this tube out!!! I have lost 19 pounds so far so it is making it more worth it. :o)***It has now been almost 9 months and I weighed 258 day of surgery and now I am at 144! Thanks Dr.A

Dr. Alexander gives a great first impression. I had my 1st consultation 4/23/02. He was very polite and knowledgable and although he had a waiting room full of people he made me feel as if he had all afternoon to sit and talk with me. He answered all my question with confidence and assurred me in areas where I had great concerns. I am also excited about the center's aftercare efforts. I hope they are as helpfull as they say they will be. After my 1st meeting with him, I'd have to rate him a 9 overall. He seemed very sincere.

I was going to go to San Diego for surgery with Dr. Wittgrove but the cost was way more that I could prepare for so I read the information on this site and found Dr. Alexander. He is a wonderful person, he is very pasionate about his work and makes you very confident in his skills. I am very lucky to have found such a great surgeon in my home town.
The only bad thing about meeting Dr. A was the 2 hour wait for my consultation. I had a 9:00 am appointment but he did not arrive to the office until 11:00 am. I am not a very patient person and it was hard to sit there for that long. I did get to meet several other patients who were waiting for him too so that was good.

I have not yet had my consultation. I will be meeting him on April 18th. I have heard great things about him and anxiously await meeting him. 04-18-02 I was very impressed with Dr. Alexander and his staff. There was a little bit of a wait (I expected worse), but he takes alot of time to answer any questions you may have. The only negative thing I can find to say is that he talks pretty fast. His insurance worker is a very sweet lady. She seems to be on the ball. I am so glad that Dr. Alexander is the one that will be performing my surgery.
