Alberic Fiennes, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
Mr Fiennes is much more than a marvellous surgeon, he is an exceptional person.
His humour and intellect hit you right between the eyes when you meet him.
My operation was a success and I am still much lighter than before.
I actually looked forward to seeing him.I hope he’s reading this and I thank him so much for his help.

My surgeon was Mr Alberic Fiennes MD. First impression was very positive. He was very clear about the operation and the risks involved. He answered all of my questions clearly, and truthfully. I would not hesitate to have him do my opperation again in a heartbeat. He is also a very well known, respected, and experienced surgeon. I feel very privileged that I was lucky enough to have the operational done by him and his team. As I've said before he changed my quality of life for the good in less than 3/4 of an hour. He also goes beyond the call of duty. He has also given me advice for my son's weight loss (he's 26 stone) even though he is not he's patient yet. Truly he is a gifted surgeon/man. He provides very good after care, if you do your best, are honest with him and yourself, he will never leave you stranded, he will always try to help you the best he can. He will not tolerate non compliant patients who just don't want to try to help themselves (be careful, I am not talking about if you find it hard or you are depressed, he will do his best to help you if need pshychological help and you are honest about this).rnSometimes he does not tell you all you need to know but maybe it's because there are just too many things to say, he will give you all the most important info you need though and if you ask he will always help or tell you more.rnI have been under his care for 6 years now and he has always done his best to help me and I know I will never be alone!
My first impression on meeting Mr Fiennes was that he was an old school British eccentric. That still holds because of the things he has chatted with me about and other personal characteristics. rnrnHowever, don't be fooled by that. He has a mind like a steel trap and is totally focused on YOU the patient. I have to say that when he was at St George's Tooting I didn't find his admin staff very approachable but that has improved no end since he moved to University Hospital.rnrnFuture patients should know that when he taks charge of your case, you join a team; not just for the operation but for life. rnrnHis aftercare service is superb and I got a call from his wife Louise the DAY (Saturday) after I came out of hospital.rnrnAll your post op instructions are given to you beforehand so that you are completely aware of what you have to do post op.rnrnHe has consultations prior to the operation and he will tell you exactly what risks are involved, what happens immmediately post op and the care that will be given for the rest of your life. You feel part of a team not just a number.rnrnI cannot recommend him highly enough.
First of Mr. Fiennes (\"Mr.\" is English for top-notch doctor/surgeon) is no longer in Tooting. He is now practicing at University College London Hospital.rnrnMy first impression of him was that he was a brilliant, if rather idiosyncratic chap, pushed to the end of his tether by the amount of need for bariatric treatment that he saw: rather like the little boy in the who paddling on such an impossibly huge ocean.rnrnI first saw Mr Fiennes when he was practicing at St. George's hospital in Tooting. The staff I found quite difficult to deal with. I have come to understand that this was a function more of that hospital & some dysfunctional NHS big bureaucracy issues than Mr. Fiennes. In his new incarnation at UCLH, there is a different experience completely! And it is MUCH better.rnrnWhat I like most about Alberic Fiennes (besides his wicked and twinkling bright blue eyes) has something to do with his passion for his work. I suspect more of his patients give up on him than he ever gives up on! Being Mr Fiennes patient means belonging to him in a very real sense.rnrnI have no complaints at all about any facet of the care I have received. The information has been thorough: risks completely discussed, every aspect of dealing with him is about participating in a PROGRAMME that has a timeline direction and well-defined goals.rnrnMr. Fiennes is indisputably one of the most illustrious bariatric surgeons in the UK. His bedside manner is fine, however when someone is going to mess with your innards, hey boy, I want competence. And Mr. Fiennes delivers that in spades.
He's one of THE Fiennes and he's your typical British Consultant - a bit stiff at first but he's a really warm and committed professional, incredibly hard working and knowledgeable. His wife Louise is also his nurse and secretary and she's very approachable.rnrnI couldn't recommend him more highly - I did a lot of research and Mr. Fiennes is one of the most well known and eminent bariatic surgeons in the country.
My surgeon was supreme! He was absolutely meticulous in his care of me! I felt very safe with him and knew I made an excellent choice in selecting him.
He has a fantastic Bedside manner, I have never had any bad experiences with him. His staff are generally friendly, but his secretary can be a bit nasty. He is very experienced with Bariatric Surgery, he is a specialist in Reversals.
His aftercare is impecable and he is a strong advocate of the risks in surgery.
Out of 10 I would rate him 11.
His surgical competance and bedside manner are both great.
