I repeat the multiply-shared sentiment that Dr. Gritsus is professional, warm, empathetic. Dr. Gritsus saves a very reserved scrutiny solely to ensure the patient receives the BEST treatment possible.
Anyone contemplating surgery...if you need a Doctor...he is the RIGHT one!

I went May 15th to the seminar in Dr. Gritsus office. He seamed like a nice doctor. When I went for the first office visit everyone was friendly. They answered any questions or concerns I had. I had my surgery July 21 2008. I lost over 60 lbs so far and never felt better. I am very pleased with Dr. Gritsus. Whenever you call he get in touch as soon as possible.

However, when I got to the point that I was fearful for my life, I decided to attend one of Dr. Gritsus' seminars. I entered the room with a negative attitude, knowing that this was going to be just another hard-sell for something I was afraid to consider.rnrnBOY WAS I WRONG! From the moment the doctor started to speak, he made me feel comfortable with a calm, logical approach to weight loss that I had never considered. Not accusatory, not hard-sell, just an incredible understanding of the procedure and what to expect after. His complete knowledge and experience were impressive, even as he answered some very hard questions that were thrown out from the audience.rnrnWhen I came to the office for my first appointment, I was greated with the same knowledge and experience, coupled with a respect I have never experienced in my prior weight-loss efforts. Everyone in his office was pleasant, helpful and made me feel that I was part of the family. They took the necessary time to explain the procedure thoroughly and they took care of all of the insurance paperwork for me. Amazing!rnrnI am now 9 months post-op, have lost a total of 105 lbs. and am healthier than I have been in a very long time, thanks to Dr. Gritsus and his team of caring professionals!rnrn

Dr. gritsus, his assistant Dean, and every one on his staff are wonderful to me everytime I see them. I had my surgery on Jan. 5, and things couldn't be any better. Dr. Gritsus has agreat bedside manner and great after care. I believe they really want you to succeed in a healthy way.

Where should I begin - my journey has only just begun - but the path to my obesity started practically at birth. I have always been overweight. My decision to consider WLS actually happened about a year ago. I began doing extensive research about different procedures, before/after surgery requirements and attending seminars.rnrnI attended Dr. Gritsus's seminar on Sept. 18th and was immediately convinced that bariatric surgery was the right decision and that he was the surgeon to handle the procedure. His seminar was the most informative, he was open and honest in answering all questions. He was sure to provide answers and in instances that warranted give the response that individual medical history and condition could and would have different formal answers. He never made me feel as if obesity was disgusting, it was always about a better, healthy life. He was very forthcoming about the demands of post operative diet, exercise, support and counseling. He cleary explained all bariatric surgery options, procedures, complications, potential results, etc. rnrnThe next day after a long night of talking with my husband - we agreed to move forward and schedule a consultation with Dr. Gritsus. That meeting was terrific. At that time I met Dean Mellas, PA-C who spent much time going over my medical history, reviewing the procedures, completing a brief exam and overall making me very confortable about the decision that I was making and affording me and my husband undivided attention to our questions and concerns. The time and care given each time I visit the office is the best care ever. From the first consultation to the day of surgery and beyond, his office has always been available for questions, handling all insurance information, test scheduling, etc. rnrnDuring my surgery there was a minor complication that was handled immediately. As soon as surgery was completed, Dr. Gritsus spoke with my husband and I to discuss what occurred and set us to ease that it was not an issue. For me, it is as if every patient of Dr. Gritsus is family. His office staff are the best and they are a total extension of his superb service and caring.rnrnMy new life journey has just begun and I am happy that it will be taken with Dr. Gritsus and Dean and all the staff at Advanced Surgical Solutions.

When I attended Dr. Gritsus' weight loss seminar on August 21, 2008, I was immediately impressed. He was very calm and patient. He answered everyone's questions without any hesitation. His staff has been very good with insurance matters, follow up appointments and general concern for your individual progress. The doctor offers a dietician, counselling and support groups. His approach both pre and post surgery has been very good thus far.

Dr. Gritsus is a skilled, caring surgeon and his staff is great; always helpful and pleasant.

I first met Dr. Gritsus at one of his WLS Seminars. I had already done research on my own but his presentation and knowledge impressed me. I approached him after and upon a personal introduction I knew he was the surgeon for me! He was warm and concerned, we discussed the aftercare programs offered for support. I called the next day and made my appointments. My insurance was going to be a problem, as Dr Gritsus doesn't participate in my plan. They did do all the paper work no claim forms etc. but with my $2500.00 deductible and then 70% it did cost me a pretty penny. But I found the money. This was more important than money. Everyone whom I was referred to and the whole gang at Advanced Surgical Solutions made the entire process a breeze. I then (pre-op) went to a Nutrition Seminar held monthly hosted by Susanna Mendelson the Nutritionist associated with Dr. Gritsus’s office. I was right at home! My pre op visit was when I met “Dean,” he is Dr. Gritsus Physicians Assistant. Dean put me right at ease, no question was too dumb, he answered them all. I had my surgery (lap-band) 12/27/05 and have lost 75lbs. Competence, bedside manner, a fantastic office staff and great follow up support, I couldn’t be happier. My \"joke\" about Dr. Gritsus is that he really has no business being a surgeon because he has none of that \"doctor\" ego. Rarely have I been blessed to be treated by a doctor (and staff) who has such empathy and patience for their patients. The best thing about Dr. Gritsus is that he listens; he never made me feel that any question was wrong, or had previously been discussed and needn't be asked again. I felt that I was in good hands, I always felt safe, I always fetl that I was under the care of someone technically competent. rnrnI chose Dr. Gritsus because he was on my plan. Friends who had had the procedure urged me to go to another doctor, but there was no way that I could do this without my insurance covering the costs. However, I decided to STAY with Dr. Gritsus after attending his information session and going for an evaluation visit.rnrnSome people prefer their medical professionals to be just that, strictly professional in the highest degree. I needed to go through this life changing procedure with someone who had that professional capability, a comparable staff, but also with someone who understood what this meant to his patients. I feel I got this in going with Dr. Gritsus.rnrnThe next day....rnrnI wanted to add something about this office. Everyone in the staff is welcoming and accommodating - without Kathy's persistence I don't know long it would have taken the insurance company to come through. And the rest of the desk staff (I'm lousy with names) equally are so nice. Dr.Girstus is a wonderful Doctor and I would recomend him to anyone who neds an awsome Doctor and office that is wll educated in every aspect of lap banding..I am astonished at how well his office treats their patients as well as Dr. Girtisus. I had lap banding donr on feb 19th 07 and I am down 20 pounds ..today is march 1st07.. I am doing great. I will give my experience a 4 star and I am not even half way there yet...I wish every one could see the ( kind gentle and informative Dr. he is) Make an apt. for his eminars and find out.
