Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, PC - Dr. Chengelis Bariatric Center

I knew the moment I saw him that he was the surgeon for me! (call it intuition) Staff is great! I highly recommend him for bypass surgery. I also had a hiatial hernia that he repaired before he started my bypass. my surgery date was 1-13-09. I was completely satisfied with the whole surgical process.

I would highly recommend Dr. Chengelis. He is a wonderful surgeon with a great bedside mannor. I have not had any problems with my surgery and I feel very blessed to have had the surgery.

My first impression upon meeting him was how genuine he is. He took the time to explain the surgery, the pros and the cons. He put me at ease in the first few minutes of talking with him. He was very comforting.

My first impression of the Staff @ Beaumont is the same as it is now. I love each and every nurse, and nitritionist. Vampira as I have named her, is the nurse that takes my blood when I go in for check ups, is also great. Dr. Chengelis, my surgeon is awesome. He fully explained everything to me and was and has been right there when I needed him. He really educated me fully for what I needed to do before and after. Even though I fully met the criteria for the surgery, he refused to do it while I was still a smoker. This Dr. clearly is not out for getting his surgery numbers up. I feel like he really cares about his patients.

First. let me say that the way WLS is set up at Beaumont Healthcare is second to none. They take a whole approach and are very collabrative with each other. I think that Dr. Chengelis is funny and very smart. I mean he really is. My impression of him has not changed over time. His office, they know their stuff and can pretty much answer any question or point you in the right direction. Future patients should know he is going to give it to you \"straight....with no chaser\". If you need a doctor to \"poo..poo\" you he is not the person. You know how we as heavy people can get offended easily. ;o) Dr. Chengelis is part of the Beaumont WLS and they have a very structured aftercare program. Dr Chengelis goes step by step and explains all of the risks to you. He has a really good bedside manner. I was so impressed with the level of care I received that I have referred people to him.

I was really impressed the first time I met Dr. C. - he sat with a small group of us and gave us the \"overview information\" but then he met with us all individually. He really took the time to get to know us, our decision making process, and to insure that we understood the journey we were asking to embark upon. He answered all questions openly and honestly - he has a wonderful sense of humor, and a great bedside manner. He is a very professional, compassionate and caring doctor. Post surgically he was prompt in answering any questions and concerns in returned phone calls - even after hours! His staff is courteous and professional - not over friendly but they get things done and are careful to maintain privacy. Dr. Chengelis is great, he really put me at ease as this was my first surgery or time under any kind of anethesia ever. I knew I was in good hands and trusted he would take very good care of me. If I ever need any other kind of surgery - he will be my first call ! Thanks for changing my life Dr. C.!

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Chengelis. He saw me twice in his office and spent a good amount of time with me. He also saw me one time pre-op to ease my anxiety and then twice post-op while in the hospital. He was very caring and answered all of my questions. He also had surgical residents that saw me daily and they did a wonderful job. I have not complaints about him at all!!

Dr. Chengelis was a very kind, handsome man who was upfront, honest and very caring thru all of my treatments. He is very easy to talk to and understand and is a great doctor overall. He works closly with a great team of doctors for before and after care. I met with him in a small group of three at his office where he went over everything from risks to benefits etc... We still keep in touch.
