Adirondack Medical Center Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr. Hill, was oh my God! He looks so young but is very knowledgable and cares about his patients and his work. He takes his work very serious! My impression of Dr. Hill has only changed for the best. He always knows what to say to make me smile, when I'm feeling blue. He's a very honest and straight forward surgeon. He's always happy and has a smile. I had a minor (that's what he says, it really was minor it could of been worse)problem with my incision opening up, so for several weeks I had to make weekly trips to Saranac Lake (I live about 2 hrs. away) and every visit he told me not to hesitate to contact him if I had any problems or questions. He also told me how great I'm doing and keep up the good work! I did have to contact him on a Sunday, no less and he wasn't bothered by it at all.
Dr. Hill went over all the risks with me prior to my surgery and said if I had any questions not to hesitate to contact him or the office.
Part of his after care program is attending a monthly support group meeting. I have found this to be very helpful. On a scale of 1 - 10 I would have to rate him a 10!
Dr. Hill has wonderful bedside manners and his surgical skills are very competent! I would highly recommend him to anyone who is thinking about having surgery! Thank you Dr. Hill for helping me make my life healther and happier!
Dr. Hill is a frank and honest man that isn't afraid to make eye contact. He loves to work with people who are educated and motivated about this surgical process. Dr Hill's staff is fantastic, with some who have had the surgery and all who are supportive and real. The only thing that's a bit of a bummer is the 2 hour trip to make visits, but the scenery is glorious (Adirondack Park) and now that I've done it a few times the two hours fly by. Future patients need to know that this program is not just to loose weight. The focus is to become healthy in every sense of the word. They care more about weather I'm using my new jogging stroller and skipping with my students at nursey school than what the scale says. If you want to have this surgery and still eat twice a week at a fast food place, then this is not the place for you. I had to sign an agreement with them regarding after care, which is highly emphasized and structured. All patients are also required to take a true-false test before surgery that is signed and dated to make sure that everone grasps the realities of the surgery. Doctor Hill is an extreemly capable surgeon with a very pleasant and engaging bedside manner that I have recommended to our friend and best man and my cousin; both people that I love very much.
Dr Hill is one of the easiest physicians I have ever dealt with. He really spends time if you have questions. He doesn't make you feel like you have to hurry to get to the next patient.
Some people may find Dr. Hill young and hyper, but his personality and bedside manner really stand out.
Saranac hospital is not the Ritz-Carlton, the beds are uncomfortable, and the showers are less than clean.
The program structure, may seem like a bit much to some people, but at least they have one. Some people I know have not had a structured program, and feel that they would have been better served if they had.
All in all, Dr. Hill and his staff are very friendly and up beat, I certainly would recommend to anyone that they check out his program
I had met Dr. Hill at a couple of the support group meetings before I got to meet him one on one, Dr.-Patient, type meeting..and my first impression of Dr.Hill was..WOW!! This young man is very intelligent, a little shy at first but he really knows his stuff here and knows what he is doing...After I met with him one on one, my first impression of him was confirmed....he took all the time I needed to answer ALL of my questions and I had quite a few..he never once made me feel rushed..he drew diagrams for me and explained everything that would be done..I don't have anything, as of yet, that I like least about him.
I feel future patients should know that Dr. Hill, although young, is VERY intelligent and calming..he is available to his patients as they need him and tells us not to hesitate to call him if we need him..
He emphasizes aftercare for life with him..and makes sure YOU know that it is essential for a healthy life, he needs to be able to keep your body on an even keel, with the vitamins, iron, calcium etc...and to be sure you are doing well overall..he is very interested in his patients.
Dr. Hill addresses the risk of surgery head on, he tells you about the risks as well as the benefits, this was discussed in pre-op support groups and I didn't need him to tell me again, so we went on with other questions that I had..
I would rate Dr. Hill so far as a 10. He is very competent and has a great bedside manner and both are fantastic qualities to have...
This is my personal impression and my own personal experience with Dr. Hill. I am not making any statements about what other people may feel or say...
Dr. Hill was the greatest from the first
time I met him. I felt at ease while talking
to him. He explained everything-even drew
pictures of the various procedures. He
handed me a book that the Bariatric Team @
Adirondack Medical Ctr. had composed. He
raised questions that I had not thought of.
His very pleasant manner helped put me at ease. Dr.Hill is very young but VERY SHARP.
I have a nurse-friend who told me in spite
of his youth, he had been getting quite
favorable results. I asked him about small
hosp. vs. large medical ctr. He said it was
up to me. I had called a lge. Med.Ctr.in
May 2002.I was put on a list and told the
earliest appt. would be Oct.-Nov.2002!!!
I called Dr. Hill's office in mid-May&got
an appt. for June 3rd.!!! I got the questionairre from the large Med.Ctr. a
few days before my surg. date w/ Dr. Hill.
The staff have ALWAYS been helpful w/ any
questions/problems. I had good instruction
from all the staff including the nurse-pract.
and nurse-psychologist on everything to expect before and after surgery. My Dr.
will make a name for himself because he's
GREAT at the work he does. He genuinly
likes helping his patients. I would send
anyone to him because I trust him. Infact
I told Dr. Hill that I plan to send him a lot
of business. I'm so glad I went w/ the small
hosp. because of all the personal attention
I received.
My first impression of my surgeon was, "Oh my goodness", He's hot. I'm married, not blind. I was actually hoping for an older and much less attractive doctor ((chuckle)). He's fairly young and good looking....how embarrassing knowing he is going to see all of my "pudge" and then some!!! By the time I finished my visit with him, I was comfortable with him. He didn't make me feel embarrassed and was very easy to talk to. The office staff is wonderful, very nice, caring people. Had problems with my insurance and the scheduling nurse worked on clearing it up. This wasn't her problem, it was mine though she went the extra mile for me by spending more time working on it than what she should have.
Dr. Hill is part of the Adirondack Surgical Group. There are very strict pre-op and post that are required. Many tests, psychological evaluation, meeting with dietician, attendance at as many support group meetings as possible before and after surgery (meetings held in hospital right near his office. There is a very structured aftercare program requiring regular checkups, meetings with dietician and continued attendance at the support meetings. The risks of surgery have been discussed throughout this process. At this point pre-op, I'd rate him a "super doc". I'll obviously know more post-op, though I'm sure his surgical competence and bedside manner are as great as the reputation of the Adirondack Surgical Group. Obviously the competence comes first; bedside manner is a bonus. The big plus, he doesn't just make you attend the meetings, he attends also, along with the dietician and psychologist, so that's great! The downside to my visits are that I seem to spend more time talking to everybody, other than the doctor. Guess that's normal in this case. I'll see him again one week prior to surgery. I guess he's done his part for now.
I havent met with Dr Hill yet but am scheduled to me et with Dr. Hixson the director of the program. Im excite to be on this journey....The staff are wonderful
