Pregnancy tough for the obese

ULTRASOUNDS are struggling to detect abnormalities in obese pregnant women.

Excess weight impairs the clarity of ultrasound pictures, making fetal complications hard to discover.

A US study has found the detection of fetal abnormalities in second trimester pregnancies was less for women with higher body mass index, a measure of height and weight. Click here for full article.
