Question:
What should I consider having done? Adominoplasty or Tummy Tuck?
I am to the point that I'm going to need some type of work done on my stomach. I've lost 112lbs. and have 35 more pounds to go. My concern is that I haven't yet had childern. And do plan on having 1 or 2. But I'm single so I really would like to get something done to my stomach. Theres a lot of extra skin a stuff. So does anyone know which might be best for now? Can you have maybe a tummy tuck done now, and after kids go back and have the Adominoplasty thing done? I havent seen a surgeon yet, but wanted to get your guys opinion & thoughts. — Snowflake_Princess (posted on March 19, 2004)

Abdominoplasty and Tummy Tuck are the same thing. Panniculectomy is
removal of skin first. I have heard several differing opinions. Consult
with a Plastic surgeon (or 2) and see what they say. In some
instances...the amount of excess skin and muscle damage is so severe that a
Dr. will do it (TT) before you have children. But, unless you have a lot
of work to be done....most I think will advise you to wait...unless you
have a ton of money and can afford to have it done again after you have
your children. Some may not even do a panni until after....get some
consults.

The tt is just the short name for the abdominoplasty. Personally i would
wait until after you have children to have the tt, as a mom of 3 i can tell
ya your abdomin will most likely get strectch marks and be a bit saggy post
children.
I can tell you i had my upper and lower tt, muscle repair and breast lift
10 months ago..wow i love it:)

I'm 14 days post TT/medial thigh lift. No kids, but dating a wonderful man
who I intend to marry so the first question I asked my plastic surgeon was
will having kids ruin his artwork? He said not if he didn't tighten the
abdominals as strong as he might have post babies. Still, I can't tell the
difference. I love my new tummy. He took of 10 lbs of skin off the panni.
See my profiles for pics and details.
best of luck!

Trisha, I am 33 and I haven't had kids yet. I am debating a divorce, don't
know if I will ever want kids, but, one thing I do know is THAT I WANT RID
OF THIS SKIN!!! I think what you are probably confusing is it you want a
standard old tt or a Lower Body Lift. TT just gets rid of your skin in the
tummy, the LBL gets rid of everything (circumpherically) and also lipos the
thighs and saddlebags. Good Luck, whatever your decision. Oh, P.S.. my
plastic Surgeon basically said that even if you have kids after PS, your
skin will NEVER look as bad as it is right now. Haha! email me privately,
if you want to. [email protected]. Heather Open RNY 8-15-02

Since I don't have kids, my PS wasn't sure I'd need muscle tightening to
begin with. Only after going in and finding a hernia did he have to do
mucsle repair. He said if it weren't for that, I would have only needed
the panni. I do not plan on having children anyways.
