Question:
Can I drink sweet tea, but using splenda to sweeten it?
I have been drinking sweet tea the past couple of days. I've been substituting the sugar with splenda. Is this ok, or should I cut it out all together. I usually don't ever drink tea, and I'm almost 7 months post-op. Also what about eating Club House fat free crackers? I brought some to work today in case I got hungry for a snack. I ate four crackers today with cheese. — Snowflake_Princess (posted on September 24, 2003)

Trisha, tea sweetened with Splenda is fine, particularly so if it is
decaf. The Club House crackers (with cheese) is also a good choice as a
snck. No problems with either one. Good luck to you, Kevin.

There is a little more than 2 carbs per cracker with the Club crackers;
sure the little Keeblers are cute, but what about trying to find a snack
that has protein? When I had the nibbling urge, I would have a some
peanuts, or a few pork rinds (no carbs and a bit of protein-- not that that
combination can truly blot from your mind what it is you are actually
consuming with the pork rinds) or a portion of a protein bar (the Atkins
bars were the least disagreeable with me).

Hi, Using slenda in place of sugar is great. I used to drink about 60oz of
coffe a day before surgery. Now that I am 4 months out I drink 1 cup of
regular coffee a day. They say that the caffine is not good, but 1 cup a
day is not going to hurt, especially if you are geeting your water in. Also
cheese is a good snack. I use club crackers as well and thats fine just
don't eat morethan the serving size, have to watch those carbs. Also if you
liked potato chips there is a product by a company called Glenny's. The are
called Soy Crips, and they come in a variety of flavors. They are low in
carbs and have protien in them.

Be careful with caffeine - I had a major dumping episode earlier this week
- apparently the result of a Diet Pepsi flavored Slurpee. No sugar, but
apparently too much caffeine.
NOT FUN!
