Question:
What could be the cause of this pain?

I am 6 1/2 months postop and yesterday and today in the afternoon I have experienced pain in the area above my bellybutton. At first I thought it was gas but now I'm not sure. It almost feels like someone has hit me in that area it is very tender. I am going back to the Dr next week so if I am still having the pain I will ask him, but I want to check to see if anyone else has had pain like this before. I can't say it is real painful but just an uncomfortable tender feeling.    — susan V. (posted on October 30, 2001)

Do you notice a little lump that protudes a little? I had an umbilical hernia that sounded like that. No pain just a little tenderness. Have your doctor look at it to be sure. My doctor told me to be sure to always breath whenever lifting anything but hernias are so easy to get.

I had the same thing happen to me at about 6 months I thought for sure that it was a hernia. The tenderness went away after a couple of days. My doctor said that I probably strained the muscles when I picked something up. I would definately keep my appointment is I were you, but try not to worry too much :)
