Question:
The Dr's office lost my medical records! What do I do now?
I have to get copies of medical records from a Dr. I have seen within the last year for the insurance company. When I went to get them they said they can't find my records. Now what do I do? They won't approve me if I can't get records and the Practice was recently bought out so it's not like I can have the Dr. write a letter or anything. They don't even know where the Dr. that I saw is. He retired. — Debra T. (posted on March 7, 2001)

your insurance company should have records of visits through the last 2-3
years (though they may have to "switch computer systems for anything
over one year and it irritates them sometimes). anything billed to them
has a procedure code on it that tells them what the visit was for. maybe
that will help a little?
good luck!
