Question:
Does Tylenol or Acetaminophen come in a s/f liquid?
I am 5 days to wls. I do get migraines, usually monthly(PMS related) sometimes more often. At the first sign of one which is 95% of the time a visual disturbance, I take 3 500 mg acetominophen(store brand tylenol) and it works wonders, no pain, lasts about 3 hours. Then I take 1 more tablet every 2 hours for the rest of the day. I need to know now if tylenol is available in an adult strength sugar-free liquid for my liquids only post op phase. I know that kids strength is available but I suspect I would have to down a whole bottle to get rid of the migraine, then a half bottle every couple of hours. At $8 a bottle, I would rather have a prescription of a stronger liquid. Also, I don't want or need codine for this. — mary ann T. (posted on August 3, 2003)

My migrains have been alot better since surgery. I do however still take my
prescription,Elavil 50 mg,every night.
I take Maxalt for a really bad migrain. I do dump on liquid Tylenol.

Try sugar-free childrens chewable tylenol. I get a generic brand from
wal-mart and even though i have to take 4 or more of them at least the
taste is masked somewhat(180mgs in each tab). Also ask your local pharmist
if they can get a sugar -free liquid for you- I have used it at work , but
it does contain alcohol so some people dont like that taste.

It is a little late now, but I take a preventative dose of a beta blocker
(a hypertension med) for my cluster headaches (migraines jammed into a few
minutes instead of days and days, but ultra concentrated in my case).
Maybe you could go to something like that? You'll probably need a
different med after the surgery for the first month so I'd call my PCP or
GYN for ideas.

Could you dissolve the tablets in water or crush them and add the powder to
a bit of applesauce or pudding? Unless they are caplets or coated somehow
this might be an option. Even if they made a sugar free liquid, it would
take a lot to get in the dose you need.

Hi Mary Ann-
Tylenol does make a adults liquid. You can find it at CVS.com. I dont know
if its sugar free though. I am 4 weeks out and have taken it without any
side affects.

Tylenol is sold in adult strength liquid. It doesn't say anything about
having sugar in it. I have never had any problem with it.Another thing you
could take is excedrin quick tabs which dissolve in your mouth and require
no water. They contain 500 Mg acetaminophin and 65 Mg caffeine but nothing
more. They also seem to be cheaper than the liquid when you break it down to
doses. I hope this helps.
