Question:
What all does a breast augmentation involve? How is it done?
I had WLS (LAP RNY)in September 2002, and even though I'm not quite ready for plastics, I'm wondering about breast augmentation and lift. Will the "twins" look 'straight ahead' instead of down low (sagging)? I have a variety of questions and wanted to know exactly how the procedure is done, are the results pretty much immediate? Thanks for answering in advance! Hadiyah~~ — yourdivaness (posted on July 10, 2003)

I've not had breast augmentation, but I have looked into it considerably. A
fabulous, informative website, with tons of before and after pics is
www.implantinfo.com. I highly reccomend you check it out for any
information you might need.

I had a lift with augmentation in May 2001. I do indeed now
"face" forward instead of the floor! The procedure is very much
like a lift: opening is made at the "right" location on your
breast, nipple/areole are relocated there (preserving the connection to
your tissue so that sensation is preserved). An implant of a size you and
your surgeon have previously determined is inserted (under the muscle is
best). Then a pie-slice shaped incision is made from the bottom of the
nipple to the crease below the breast, and that extra skin is removed and
the breast stitched back togther. At the end you have tiny incisions around
each nipple/areole, a thin line running down the center of the breast from
the bottom of the nipple to the crease under the breast, and possibly an
incision under the crease as well. My incisions were pink at first but are
now virtually invisible! I was a 32 Long after I lost all my weight and am
now a 34DD. Since I am 5'8" this is a good size for me. Good luck with
everything.
