Question:
6 Months Post Op- What is this pain I get after swallowing food?

I am almost 6 months post-op, down 92 lbs, For the last couple days, whenever I swallow a bite of food - no matter what it is - I get a slight pain in my stomach just under my rib cage. It only lasts for a couple of seconds. What could this be? Is something wrong with my pouch?    — JLP9805 (posted on April 28, 2003)

It sounds like it is your pouch area that is hurting you. The safest thing would be to call your surgeon or doctor right now. At 6 months out- you shouldn't really have pain when eating there, unless ofcourse you're not chewing enough or too fast or something. I'd get it checked out just to be safe- feel better!

I am 7mo post-op and I get that sometimes when I don't chew good enough. I agree with the last poster that you should call your Doc, but try chewing your food like a paste consistancy before you swallow :o) Good luck!
