Question:
Who does the hernia & abdominoplasty surgery?

I just found out I have a incisional hernia that is quite large. I am only a little over 4 months post-op and have lost 54 # . I still have at least 100 # to go (started at 301, 5'2"). My RNY surgeon told me I would not get the hernia fixed for at least another year until I was done losing weight. He was in a hurry today and I did not get to ask him whether he does the hernia surgery and the abdominoplasty together. I am positive I will need the hanging stomach taken care of. It was bad before I even had surgery and it is getting worse as I am losing. Do you have a surgeon to fix the hernia and a plastic surgeon to do the abdominoplasty together in there? Depends on the surgeon. Many plastic surgeons will not do a hernia repair. Some gastric bypass surgeons will do hernia, but not abdominoplasty. Some will work as a team. I found a plastic surgeon who also specialized in hernias. He did my abdominoplasty, hernia repair, and breast lift in one surgery. My husband is going back to our original gastric bypass surgeon who will do his hernia repair and abdominoplasty. -Kate-

hi there :) the surgeon that did my gp is also doing my hernia repair along with excess abdomenal tissue on march 27th. thats just around the corner!! :)

Kelly, I had a Full Abdominoplasty with Muscle tightening and hernia repair 7 weeks ago. My P.S did it all. I assumed that all Plastic surgeons did both, but Obviously not based on the previous posts here. Now would probably be a good time to start calling on your local P.S's to find one that is qualified to do both, board certified and accepts insurance claims. Good Luck Missy
