Question:
reconstructive surgery for apron, who was approved with Cigna PPO
I just made an appointment with a doctor to do my apron removal and they said it was impossible to get cigna to approve this surgery. I need anyone out there that got cigna to approve the surgery to let me know what I need to do to get approved, and I need to know how long it took you to get approved — tina T. I don't know what to tell you. He is out of network. I also had a
cosoltation with an in network DR and that seems like it will go through
too. Good Lux

CIGNA PPO not only approved my lap RNY, but also my panniculectomy and
brachioplasty, no questions asked, with only letters of medical necessity
from the surgeons involved. When I called CIGNA to inquire about any
exclusions in my policy, the CIGNA case manager explained that benefits
vary from state-to-state and employer-to-employer. I live in NC and CIGNA
was wonderful to work with in my case. Call your CIGNA representative and
ask about existing exclusions....find out your the representative's name
and only speak with that person on subsequent phone calls....don't hesitate
to pursue the appeals process if you receive an initial denial, because
many patients have been approved after persistently appealing a denial.
Best wishes!

Cigna approved my panni with an appeal letter after being denied the first
time and I had it done on Nov 12. I live in Florida so I hope this helps
you.
