Question:
I have a pain in my left side just around my hip area.

it started the day before I came home from the hospital and has come back off and on since. It's a sharp pain and sometimes wakes me up from a sound sleep. I don't know if it could be gas that is still trapped or something else? Nikki...I had the same thing last week (surgery 8/7/02). I drank about 1/2 cup of carbonated soda and it really helped. I've found, through this site, that quite a few people have this kind of pain, mostly early on, sometimes much later as well. The first suggestion I tried was the carbonated drink, and it worked! I typed in "abdominal pain" and found a whole host of things it could be! Since I'm not the worrying kind I thought it was most likely some kind of gas...and I guess I was right. It came back once about a week after the first time and I did the same thing and it worked. Hope this helps.
