I have a pain in my left side just around my hip area.

it started the day before I came home from the hospital and has come back off and on since. It's a sharp pain and sometimes wakes me up from a sound sleep. I don't know if it could be gas that is still trapped or something else? I guess I should call my dr. but he is 2 hours away and just wanted your thoughts first. thanks (open rny 7/30/02 - 45 pounds lost)
