Question:
How do I get motivated again???

I am currently 17 months post op, having lost approximately 191 lbs. I have about 35 lbs. to go, but I just can't seem to get motivated to reach goal! It's like I'm kind of "tired" of doing all the things necessary to lose weight. I have gone from working out 4 times/week to about 2 times/week now. Still maintaining my loss, but I sure would love to get to "goal" for once in my life! I KNOW what I need to do to get there (protein, low carbs, lots of water, exercise, etc.), but emotionally I'm just really tired of the weight loss game. Any ideas to motivate myself? Love you all!!!    — Terissa R. (posted on September 17, 2002)

Join one of the yahoogroups. I get my greatest motivation from the people on there that email daily. Go to www.yahoogroups.com then type in OSSG in the search field and pick one. You might like the Graduate group of people at least 12 months out from surgery. Good luck and God Bless!

You say you work out 2x/week - is that a solo activity like walking or do you work out with a partner? I find that the socialization of an exercise class at the Y motivates me to go. Maybe if you make exercise more social it will feel like less of a chore. Best of luck to you! :-)

Terissa, you are such an inspiration to the rest of us as we have watched you work hard to lose the awesome amount of weight you have lost...had to tell ya that. And you always have great advise for the posters....My advise to you is to take a break..watch out so that you don't gain, but take a month long break from trying so hard. Perhaps by doing so you will regenerate your emotions and be ready for another push. Another consideration...could you be happy where you are at, or would you not be satisfied until you did reach goal? I would love to be a size 10, but I'm pretty happy at size 14 (only because a size 22/24 was NO fun). I plan to try to get to size 10, but honestly if it never happens, so be it. Take care...
