Question:
Has anyone had irregular cycles post-op

I am almost a year post-op (March 24, 2003) have met my goal in losing 127 pounds. Since surgery my periods have become very strange and irregular. Pre-op they were 27 days and red blood lasting about 3-4 days. Post op sometimes they are 14 days others they are 42 days and last anywhere from 7 to 14 days at a time. I had my yearly exam and they said everything was normal, and I was put on Othro-Novum 1/35 (Just to regulate). I took them for 3 months, they seemed to make things worse! My cycles were more irregular than regular. So I stopped taking them. My flow is very heavy and extremely dark in color. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have advice? I'm in the same boat 8 months PO Lap RNY down 93 lbs. I have had 13 periods with heavy bleeding since surgery. I just had a surgical procedure called a Thermal Ablation. I'm still healing and will follow up with the Dr next week. If I'm lucky I'll be one of the 88% who no longer have periods. Keep in mind although my periods were regular before (21 days)I still had heavy bleeding. I'll be happy to get rid of the beast. Oh I'm also 40 years old and no longer plan to have children, which the procedure would not work if you still want kids. Good luck....
