Has anyone had irregular cycles post-op

I am almost a year post-op (March 24, 2003) have met my goal in losing 127 pounds. Since surgery my periods have become very strange and irregular. Pre-op they were 27 days and red blood lasting about 3-4 days. Post op sometimes they are 14 days others they are 42 days and last anywhere from 7 to 14 days at a time. I had my yearly exam and they said everything was normal, and I was put on Othro-Novum 1/35 (Just to regulate). I took them for 3 months, they seemed to make things worse! My cycles were more irregular than regular. So I stopped taking them. My flow is very heavy and extremely dark in color. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have advice?
