Question:
My appeal letter was denied.....
but no one at the insurance company can tell me exactly why... the only thing that I have been told is that after their doctor reviewd the request he said I didn't meet the criteria either... I have asked to speak with a supervisor (who happens to always be on the phone or away from her desk) so get some answers but have gotten no where. I must say thought that the insurance representatives that I have spoken too have been very nice.. just not well informed. So my question is two fold.. what do I do now? Or should I do nothing? My insurance carrier will change to United Health Care Select Premium HMO on January 1, 2001.. should I just let Blue Choice "win" or should I fight them to the end?? Has anyone else had any luck with United Health Care? I am reallllly nervous about this.. I am afraid they will turn me down too! Please send me your comments ;) Audra — audra H. You need to find out quickly why they turned you down. Call your PCP
office and see if they will call for you. I don't know what to tell you
about United Healthcare HMO, but I have the PPO plan and am waiting on the
hearing date on my second appeal. Last I heard was UHC put an exclusion in
ALL of their policy's for obesity and morbid obesity. That may just be in
Missouri and not other states. Good Luck!!

I am so sorry that you're having all this trouble Audra. The more research
I do the more ridiculous it seems that any insurance company would deny
this coverage. I, too, am having trouble with BlueChoice and I think I
would continue to fight them just for gp (general purposes). Like the
other person mentioned, there may be someone else out there you could be
paving the way for...good luck!
