Question:
treating adhesions, open or lap ?

I have been having lower abdominal pain and cramping. My pcp ordered a CT scan. There was a mass in the lower left side. It was thought to be an ovarian remenant with cysts. I had a diagnostic laparascopy done by an OBGYN. He found no ovary, but many adhesions attached to my bowels and lower colon, pulling them up out of their normal positon. Also, they were adhered to the omentum. He said he'd see me in 2 weeks, and if the pain was there, he'd refer me to a general surgeon. He said if they were to do more surgery, it would probably be open, and that they may scrape the abdominal wall, to remove the scar tissue, and release the adhesions. Has anyone had this problem, and how successful was surgery? was your pain relieved? Anyone have this done through a scope? Thanks for your help! DeeAnn R    — DeeAnn (posted on October 11, 2005)

I would most definitely take this case back to your wls surgeon, he would handle this best.

I know many people after WLS surgery who had this problem. Go back to your WLS surgeroen. Do not waste time with anyone else. Only your WLS surgereon knows exactly what is going on and how to take care of you.

Hi. I had to have my gallbladder out and my surgeon removed a lot of adhesions from my prior LAP RNY. It was no problem and has helped my weight loss even more. You should be fine. Jaunine

I had three bands of adhesions removed laproscopically early in the year. It deifnitely helped with the pain I was having. I think they are back again but my wls is not yet sure that is the source of my pain,
