Question:
Okay, I just need to hear it from.....
someone else. I started working out 3 wks ago and I know my weight will go up or stay the same for awhile due to muscle mass BUT when does the weight start to drop off? I am in no hurry just curious. I work out about 5 days a week, drink my water and my protein, etc. I just want to hear other people's experiences. Thanks sooooo much! — TP (posted on April 12, 2003)

I think the answer is that it will vary. YOu may continue to lose weight
during the first few weeks, some do some don't. If not, it will probably be
a month or so and then loss again. It really all depends. I was at a little
plateau when I hit the gym. Then after like 3 weeks lost a few more lbs. an
dhave been losing again. Now it is much slower, but I'm also almost a year
out- so getting those last 4lbs off is harder. The impt. thing: you're
exercising, and that is beneficial for so many reasons. The weight will
come off- don't worry! Goodluck to you

TD, I think the answer here is VARIETY. I am going to be 9 weeks post Lap
tomorrow and I joined the Y around 3 weeks ago. I go 4 or 5 days a week
also and do both aerobics, for fat burning, and strength training for
tightening those muscles underneath. It has worked miracles! My first 2
weeks, with just the aerobics (twice a week), I lost 3 pounds then 5
pounds. When I added strength training 2 or 3 additional days a week I
lost 10 pounds the very first week!!! It was shocking! I don't beat myself
up if I don't feel up to doing one or the other, I just do what I feel up
to and still end up feeling great! Good luck to you......Melissa
