Question:
I am in the beginning stages of getting approved for Lap RNY (hopefully),

and I am pretty sure my insurance has an WLS exclusion. I have no idea where to start trying to get things moving...I have an appt with my PCP tomorrow morning and plan to ask her about WLS. Since this is an employer exclusion any suggestions where I should try first to get this approved? Anyone know what has to be done to get an employer to rethink the exclusion? If it is an employer exclusion go straight to your human resources and see if they can help. You might to check out your state laws too. Virginia state law says Insurance companies have to make gastric bypass avaviliabel to qualifiing patients.

Please check the wording on your exclusion. Please note that WSL surgery might be excluded for the obese, but not for the MORBIDLY OBESE, which is a different diagnosis and totally different.
