Question:
Has anyone had a tummy tuck approved by BC/BS in Mobile Alabama

I am interested in having the surgery done since my surgeon suggested it at my 10 month post-op visit. He didn't look at my belly, so it there a standard that Bc/BS will be asking for and how long will it take to get approved?    — Stephanie N. (posted on March 13, 2002)

I am not a post op but I have wondered that question too so I asked my surgeon. He said that insurance companies have a certain criteria that must be met and they would cover (referring to my insurance company BC/BS of AL). Those requirements were that the apron of skin must be hanging past your pubic area and causing personal health issues. And it did not cover a tummy tuck just removal of the excess skin. Whether this is true or not I don't know ... it is just what I have been told. I wish you luck.
