Question:
is my hair

I am a little over 4 months post op from Lap RNY Medial. I've lost a little over 40 lbs. My hair really started falling out a fefw weeks ago, it is still coming out but now as much. But I can't tell if it's falling out or breaking off? My hair is long and straight but I see alot of short whisps around my face.    — laura T. (posted on October 10, 2001)

I also have long straight hair and the little pieces sticking up. I think that this is new growth. I have read of others having the same thing. I am 8 mnths po and just now is the hair loss just about stopped. Thank goodness.

According to what I've heard form my surgeon, in some people the hairloss is within the first 10 months after surgery. It then should grow back and fuller and longer and healthier. Don't worry so much.

go to the beauty parlor get the shampoo they sell for "thinning hair". It feels great and CAN help. But I think from what i have read this is a GIVEN with any WLS surgery and sometimes even other surgeries. BUT I HAVE TALKED TO NO ONE WHO HASNT HAD IT GROW BACK EITHER AS GOOD OR BETTER. I'm sure there are a few...somewhere. Also I have read where till the growth came back, some cut it as short as possible to help it. But this all you can discuss with your Beautition. Good Luck, jacki

I am 9 mos. post-op, RNY open, minus 90 lbs. I had VERY thick hair and have noticed a lot of it in the shower drain and just falling out and getting weaker; even my hairdresser noticed & she suggested hair growth shampoo. I'm not bald by any means but I do seem to see parts of my pink scalp and it does worry me. I understand we're to eat more protein?
