Question:
Need Supportive PCP in William Beaumont Network- Michigan

I need a supportive PCP in William Beaumont Network in Michigan. My PCP won't refer me to the hospital weightloss clinic I started paying for out of pocket. They are not keen on surgery either, but there is a great surgeon in the area, and the clinic physician said that approval for me, b/c of my BMI and co-morbidities should not be an issue. I just need a PCP that will refer me to the surgeon.    — J C. (posted on November 13, 2002)

My PCP, Steve Kotsonis, is out of the Beaumont network. He was very supportive of my decision to have wls and wrote his letter to my surgeon with only the stipulation that I be cleared by cardiology and pulmonology before the procedure. The problem is his office is located in Sterling Heights. My suggestion would be to look up other people who have the same surgeon as you by looking into the "find a doc" page of this website. Ask them who their PCP's are. Good luck!

I see from your profile your are switching from BCN to BCBS PPO in January. With the PPO you won't need a referral. It helps to have your physician support you but with the PPO you shouldn't need one. Good Luck.
