Question:
Will my insurance stay approve the surgery after I lose 10% of my weight as requested
My Dr. Pamela Foster of Standford as has a requirement that you you lose 10% of our weight before you'll do the surgery. With my current stats at 246 lbs and 5'5 tall and a BMI of 40.6, If I lose the weight I'll be 224 and a BMI of 38.6. HAS ANYONE LOST THE WEIGHT AND THEN BEEN TURNED DOWN BY INSURANCE? I have already been approved for the surgery through the Alavado Clinc in San Diego, but I want to stay closer to home. - PLEASE HELP - Thank you! — Kimberley D. (posted on March 4, 2002)

I don't think the insurance company is ever provided the weight again
unless your approval expires.

I also have Dr. Foster as my surgeon. My pre-op weight was 236 lbs, at
5'4". Don't worry, Dr. Foster uses your first initial weight when
documents are submitted to the insurance company. I lost the required 10%
and surgery was Jan. 8, 2002. Good luck to you!
