Question:
Whats going to happen to my ugly stretchmarks?
I won't be having surgery till this summer but I am curious as to what happens to stretchmarks after alot of weight loss. All my life I have had stretch marks, now since the birth of my daughter and all my weight gain they are really bad. Will they fade away by the time a reach goal? HEY ALL YOU PEOPLE AT GOAL!!! What happened to your stretch marks? — Kicker (posted on February 3, 2002)

They kind of pucker up and collapse in on themselves. Don't look any
better, I think, just different. Mine were quite purple and reddish; after
the weightloss they were the same color as the skin. You could still see
them, but they looked more like wrinkly skin than scars. -kate-

They don't disappear. Good news is, after your weight loss, you can
consider a tummy tuck, which will remove a lot of them. Don't worry -
stretch marks will be the least of your worries.

Mine are like the first poster's: kinda wrinkly and disgusting-looking. I
only have a problem where I gained proportions while pregnant (tummy and
boobs). It will NOT stop me from wearing a bikini come summertime! I will
just find one with a high waist! :)

Mine were a dark pink, long and looked nasty. They are now faded to about
the same color as my skin, shorter, fatter and still nasty looking. I hate
them but know unless I want to pay for a tummy tuck out of pocket (my
insurance WILL NOT pay for one!) I'm stuck with them. I try to look on them
as a badge of honor for carrying a 9 1/2 lb. baby for almost 10 months and
a reward now that they are faded after my wls.
