Question:
Need the names of surgery friendly PCPs in the Pittsburgh area...

My pcp "invited" me to find another doctor since he had no intentions of referring me for surgery. Long story short, I need to find a Select Blue network PCP that has referred any of you or that you know has referred someone. I have one name already....want some more choices. I am very distraught as I had my first meeting with my surgeon and have to be on hold now cos my PCP "doesn't want my death on his head".    — Linda D. (posted on November 29, 2001)

NO problem, my pcp has referred multiple patients and supported me completely. Dr Singh of north hills very close to Ross park mall.He is a GREAT doctor and has cared for other family members as well. My wife Jen is a RN and thinks he s fantastic. Drop me a email for his phone number.

If my PCPs location isnt convenient you could call a local surgeons office for recommended PCPs, they know which refer without a hassle. Whoever you pick as a surgeon I recommend dr schauers support group meeting, its the first wenesday night of each month at montefiore hospitals auditorium. Attendance of hundreds sometimes, everyone is welcome no matter which surgeon you have.. I attend every meeting. Do other MOs a favor, wait a year after surgery and visit your old PCP with a pre op picture. Let him see for himself the new healthier you. This will get him to refer others in the future. I am doing this shortly to a idiot pulmnonary doc who tried to discourage me. You could save anothers life.

My PCP was Dr. Gloria Kasey. Wonderful and very friendly. I was the first of her patients to undergo this type of operation. She was amazed by my weight loss. I would refer her anyday. She is located in Monroeville. Monroeville Medical Associates. (412) 372-6120 Lots of Luck

Dr. Julie Cameron. She has an office in Wexford, as well as a couple other places. I went in fully armed w/ documents as to why the surgery was right for me, and I no sooner got the words weight loss surgery out of my mouth than she was telling me "I think that's a GREAT option for you".

Dr. Sean Barrett has been very supportive for me so far. He is located in Upper St. Clair. I switched to him when my original PCP was unreceptive and educated about WLS. Dr. Barrett works in the Family Practice Medical Associates South office.
